Garnett to LA? Sure, why not...

Monday, June 25, 2007, 05:30 PM EST [NBA]

I once hoped that maybe this would be the year where some of the Eastern Conference teams would improve enough to be competitive with those on the West, and maybe this was the final year where the East playoffs would be game after game of root canals. But alas, Oden and Durant are off to the twilight zone in the Pacific Northwest where most of America will be asleep while they play, and the gap between East and West will continue to widen. I used to love the NBA Playoffs. Now I cringe when it arrives because I know that most of it will be unwatchable, and the more teams get eliminated, the worse it will get. I had hope once, but now I've finally given in.

If the Lakers want KG, let's get the friggin thing done. Why the hell not? The story is out that the Lakers are talking to the Wolves about a multi-team deal that even has Jermaine O'neal going to Boston. I say make it happen and lets only televise Western Conference games next year for the entire country. NBA fans have suffered for years now watching terrible basketball and deserve to watch the greatest players in the league play together, and for the great ones to all play in meaningful basketball games. Add KG to Kobe's situation and plug in Mo Williams or a decent pg and I say the Lakers are ready to go. KG has more than earned the right to leave Minnesota with dignity, not like what Karl Malone did. Malone left at minimal pay to ride Shaq and Kobe's coattails, while KG would be the ying to Kobe's yang. Let's stockpile superhuman teams on one half of the league like we were playing GM in a video game. At this point the 8th place team in the West will get in with 50 wins, because that's basically how good these teams are getting. Meanwhile in the East, the 1st place team will be a 45-game winner.

And why stop at Garnett? Chauncey should go back home to Denver yet again and fill the Nuggets' void at point. And Maybe Rashard Lewis could go to Phoenix or the Clippers! My point is that since the NBA has allowed the West to be the only conference that matters, why don't they officially do that and eliminate the East entirely? No one wants to see games end at 81-79 anyway right? This way we could get the Western games to be the only ones televised, so that our brains don't deteriorate. Make the KG deal happen LA, come on get it done. I want to see it. My East Coast Bias has flipped and gone 3 hours behind.
