    I never said that

So when Terrell Owens "wrote" in his autobiography, "These are my words, straight from me to you," apparently what he meant was "These are my words, straight from me to you, except for sections that would make me look even more immodest that I am generally perceived, as difficult as that is to conceive. Someone else must be responsible for those quotes."

Or perhaps: "These are my words, straight from me to you. Unless sales start to lag and I need to do something to stir up additional controversy and interest in my second autobiography before the age of 33. In that case, I will claim that I was misquoted by my collaborator, even though he just happens to be the brother of my agent."

Yes, T.O. has pulled a Charles Barkley, claiming he was misquoted in his own autobiography. In Owens' case, he disputes the passage in which he describes his comeback from a broken leg as, "If you'll forgive me for saying so . . . nothing short of heroic."

Owens is saying he would never use the word "heroic" to describe himself. And for a change, we're in complete agreement with him.
