Before I go into my rant, I'd like to point out this post is off-topic from UK sports. However, there is a parallel when you consider the amount of crap one Orlando "Tubby" Smith had to put up with from UK fans. Well, he never did something like this.

I'm sure most of you have heard about the US Women's Soccer team debacle against Brazil early this morning. In case you didn't, the US team, who was riding a 50-game non-losing streak, lost to the Brazilian National Team by the eye-popping score of 4-0. At the center of this beatdown was US Coach Greg Ryan's brilliantly stupid decision to change goalies.

That's right folks. Coach Ryan told starter Hope Solo -- who was riding a 300-minute scoreless streak -- to sit in favor of Briana Scurry, a holdover goalie from the Brandy Chastain celebration. While it's hard to blame the loss solely on the goalie switch, to think it didn't have an impact is borderline ignorance.

To me, this ranks as one of the worst coaching moves ever. Why in the world would you jeopardize team chemistry because you have some misguided belief that your older goalie can make some saves your current -- and quite successful -- goalie can't?

You dance with who brung ya and not who made you feel good in the past.

It's pretty simple when you think about it.

Of course, Solo was not happy with the decision and her reaction was obviously exacerbated by the embarrassing loss. Take a look:

IMO, Solo has a right to feel the way she does... and Ryan's job should be in jeopardy when the team arrives back in the US.
