WSOP At Last We've Got A Winner ! Jamie Gold ....Jamie Who ? That's Right Jamie Gold.....He's The Latest King

Friday, August 11, 2006, 12:57 PM EST [WSOP Tournament 2006]

Well   that's  it  folks ..........we've   got  a  winner   at  the  WSOP  competiton  held  at the  Rio All-Suite   Hotel  &  Casino  in  downtown   Las  Vegas.   It  was   won  by  none  other  than  Jamie  Gold  a   36  year  old  former  Hollywood  talent  agent.   Jamie  Gold   you   may  ask......the  name  doesn't   exactly   strike  fear   into  you  once   you  hear  it.   But  strike  he   did  winning  the    purse of  almost  $ 12,000,000    dollars    to  ease  his  pain  and  then  some.    Gold  won  by  solidly  keeping  to  what  he  knows  best  and  that  is  how  to  bluff  your   opponent,  which   is  exactly  what  he  did   to  Paul   Wasicki   the   runner  up  by  beating  his  opponent  with  a  final  hand  of  a  pair  of  queens   to  Wasicki's  pair   of  10's.

Jamie Gold of Malibu, Calif., sits in front of the $12 million (9,400,705 euros) he received after winning the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas on Friday, Aug. 11, 2006. (AP Photo/Laura Rauch)    Although   the   tournament    did  not  have  any  of  the  big  stars  remaining    at  the   final  table    it  was  still  the  spectacle  that  everyone   including   the  most  ardent  devotee   expected it    to  be.     Each     of   the  competitors  remaining     have   good  reason  to be  proud  of  their  endeavors   as  they   each    took    home  a  sizeable    win  amongst   themsleves.

      1.Jamie  Gold     $12,000,000

      2. Paul   Wasicka  $6,102,499

      3. Michael  Binger  $ 4,123,310

     4. Allen Cunningham  $3,628,513

     5. Rhett Butler     $3,216,182

     6. Richard  Lee  $2,803,851

    8.Erik  Friberg  $1,979,189

    9.Dan  Nassif  $1,566,858

It  goes   without   saying   that     Gold  will   now  be  the   toast   of  Vegas  with  his  win  and  the  invites  are  about  to  come   rolling  in  from    all the  major   casinos  that  will  now  look  to   profit   from    his  newfound    celebrity   status  as  the  new    King  of  Tilt.
