It's   thought  of   as    a  derogatory  term    but  has  now  become    synonymous  as  to  how  we     term  or  describe  a  woman.   Whether   or  not   they're   dressed  provocatively  it  shouldn't   be  used    to   describe   a  woman.   " Ho"   as   used   by   rappers  nowadays    has   to    be  dropped  from   our  everyday   use    as  it      clearly   defiles     a  woman  when   it's  used  as  a  colloquialism  or  in  any  demeaning  manner.   It's  not  the  way  it's  meant  to  be !  

Lil'   Kim  the  brash   female rapper  is  at     the  forefront    of  the   rap  scene but  has   had   a  tendancy   of  being   over  exuberant   and   trashy  but  it's  clearly   a  ruse   to   entice    the  fans  to   buy  he   CD's .   It's    not    part  and  parcel    of    her   personna    despite  her   most  recent   woes. 

Kelis'     return    to    the    Billboard   charts  and   her   marriage   to   fellow   rapper  Naz    has   somewhat    made  her   the    model   of  domesticity.   Now   residing  in   the  city   of    Atlanta  with   Naz ,   she's   made  it   clear  that      her   music  will   not  define   her  role   as   a woman.  It's   her    life  and  how   she   lives  it  that   will  define  it   and  her  relationships.   

 Trina  the   South  Florida  first   gained  notoriety   as  a  stripper  in  the  notorious    Rolexx  Club  of   N.  Miami   before  being  discovered   by   Luther  Campbell ,  the   founder   of  reverbial  rap  group   2  Live  Crew.   Her   raunchy   lyrics  infused  with   sexual   vernacular  and  profanities  in  no  way   limits   her    actions  on  stage  as  a  performer  but  it  somehow  may  validate  many  people's   actions   in  using  the  aforementioned  word.

R &  B   singer     left  behind  her    upbringing  with  the  none  secular  music  field    to   try  her  hand  at  secular  music.     And   without   a  doubt     it  was  a worthwhile  change.  Despite  the  initial  disappointment  to  her   family   she   felt  the  change  was  needed.      Having  done  so   she's   centered    her   music  around     the   trappings   of  life  and  relationships   never   straying  too   far   from    what  she's   been   taught    growing  up.

The   first  lady   of   Ruff  Ryders,  Eve    has  been  around   for   close  to   a  decade  defining   her   music     with   intrinsic  values  and  dealing     with  issues    that  one  wouldn't  normally   associate  with   rap   music.      Teenage  pregnancy  ,  abusive  relationships ,   drug   dependency  amongst  others  have   been  some  of   the  subject  matter    dealt   with  in  her  music.   A  second  career  beckoned  for  her  as    she     took   up  acting.  A  successful   comedy   series   on  network  tv    has   lead   to  Hollywood    where  film  roles  are   at  her  beckoning.    

 Da  Brat's   claim   to   fame  was   tthat    she  wads  the   first   female   rapper  to   go   platinum  on   the  Billboard   charts   and  laid  the  foundation   for  the  other   female   rappers    that   were   to  follow.   Although  no  longer   recording   on   a  regular   basis   she's   closely   associated   with  musical   ingenue    Mariah  Carey    for   whom   she's   collaborated   with   and   written   songs  for.      

The   original   'Il  Na  Na  '   Foxy  Brown    is   a  contemporary   of    Lil'  Kim  and  the   two   grew  up  together   in   New  York  city.  Having  entered  the  rap   scene   she's   a   tried   and  proven  talent  in   the  field  having   achieved  success  and  gained  notoriety    away   from  the  studio   for   her   personal   run  ins   with   law   enforcement.  

 Christina  Milian   is  the  latest   of  a bunch   of  r &  b  singers    that  are  making it  on   the  scene.    This   former  ingenue  and  companion  if  Nick  Cannon  has   certainly  made  a    name    for  herself  as  she  first    came  to  prominence  as  a  back  up  singer    for  Ja  Rule amongst   others.

In  light   of  the  need  to   subject   women   to   this   derogative   term   I   feel   there's   now   a  need  to   stop  the  use  of  the  word be  it  by   anyone  who   hasn't  the  command  of   the  English   language .    It's   now  become   an  unnecessary   evil  and  signals  nothing   but   ignorance  by   anyone    who   decides   to   use   the   term.
