Hey Foxsports Blog Fans, I'm chiming in concerning my beloved Florida Marlins. It's just the start of the season, but I'm already feeling disgruntled following their dismal start. I believe that it's just the beginning of what's going to be a dismal season for the organization. With a crop of young starters and merely a handful of players that you can say have major league experience, it's going to be real learning experience for these guys. Perhaps the only bright spot on the horizon will be seeing how the talent of Miguel Cabrera, Dontrelle Willis and Jeremy Hermida stack up against the major powers of the N.L. East and the rest of N.L. In my eyes, they face a daunting task and it doesn't help that Joe Girardi was hampered from the start by management's decision to gut the team as an economical strategy . We might as well be sending out a AA team if that's how they see it. Now today, I hear that a judge in San Antonio has issued an ultimatum to the team to make a decision as to whether or not it intends to make the move there to Texas. Once again that's MLB allowing the franchise to walk all over the fans. Granted , our own legislature here in Florida hasn't been to helpful to the team, but time after time Jeffrey Loria the team owner hasn't been upfront with his intentions. He's tried to hold the fans and the state as a whole hostage , without ever truly declaring his intentions as to his desire for the franchise. Now he declares because he's unable to negotiate the building of a stadium at the taxpayers' expense , the team will have to be moved. Bud Selig will no doubt give this his blessing, as he so often does. Remember Loria bought the team primarilly with a loan put up by MLB itself, after having sold The Expos at a bargain basement price to the League. Disingenuous at best , the league serves only itself and nobody else. Not the players or the fans and certainly not baseball. Thats why come the trade deadline if they're any takers out there for our primary talent please come and get them. Any takers for D-Train, Cabrera and Hermida ? Baseball can work in S. Florida we've got the demographics to make it work, but those who say that there in the know just don't know how to go out there and market it to the fans. Selig and his cronies do a piss poor job of marketing the sport as a whole. Can I get an amen on that ?
