Since  her  arrival  on  the   tour  in 2004  she's   been  a  constant  threat to  the usurp  the  supremacy   of   Annika   Sorenstam  but while    Sorenstam shows  no  sign of    relinquish her  hold  on  the  number  one   spot  on the  rankings  ,  Gulbis   will  be   around   for  the  day that  her   foe    should  falter. 

There've  not   been  many,  if  any  female  sports  personalities    produced  in  the  sub Asian continent  but  behold  from   Mumbai,  India   here  comes  Sania Mirza.  The  ravishing  beauty   from  the continent  has   many   females  in  the  sub  Asian peninsular   taking  up  the  sport    because  of  Mirza's  spectacular  success on the    tour.    In  what  was  unheard  of  with   regard  to  women   participating    in  sports  has  suddenly   been  turned    upside  down.    Droves    of  young    females are  entering    tennis  clubs  hoping  to  learn    the  sport  and  follow  in the  footsteps  of  their  idol .   

Well  we  all   know  that   Danica   Patrick   is  the  first  lady of  the   IRL  and  without  a  doubt not  only   is  she  fast   on  the  track  but  probably  off  it  as  well.  Since  her  introduction  to  the  sport  Patrick  has  set  the   world  alight and    delighted   a   growing  group  of   fans.

  Franziska  Van Almsick  may  well  one  the  fastest  women  around ,   in  the  water  that  is.  This  protege     of  the  German  swimming squad    has  captured  the  heart   of  many    of her  male  counterpart  with  her  phenomenal presence ,  speed  and  prowess  in  the  water. 

   

Amanda  Beard  is   one   this  country's  most  celebrated  swimmers  and  certainly   one  if  its    accomplished  ever.   Still  competing  Beard  now  divides   her  time  between various  assignments  ,  of   modelling,  personal tv  appearances   and  acting  which   have  become  part  of   her  itenary. 

  

No  longer  the  shy looking  teenager   one  time  Olympic  hopeful   Sacha  Cohen   is  now  a  wily  veteran in  the sport  of   figure  skating .  She's    seen  as    the   person   most  likely   to  take  over  the  reins  from  Michelle  Kwan and  become  our  torch bearer  for the  sport  domestically  and  internationally. 

   

The   'Swiss  Miss'   has returned    to  competitive  tennis  in a  whirlwind  casting  aside    injuries    that  sidelined her  for the  past  three  years.  Martina  Hingis    is  certainly  back  with a bang !   She's   swiftly  moved up  the rankings   an  at  last  note  was   ranked  #10   by  the   WTA.

Australian     Lauren  Jackson's    arrival    in the  WNBA   has  been   nothing    short  of  spectacular.   And  it  came  as no  surprise  that   she was   voted    Rookie  of  The  Year   in  her  first   season    in  the  league.   Her  allround  skills   are   impressive    but   she's    known  as  more  of  an  offense  minded  player.

   Missy    Gibson  is  considered  to  be  one  of  the  best  surfers   in  the  world  male  or   female .  She travels  the  world    in  pursuit  of   some of  the  richest  prizes  her  sport   has to  offer.      Her    role   model  is  said  to  be  Laird  Hamilton  one    of  the  alltime  greats   of the sport.  

  

Sue   Bird   is  another   of  the  formidable   female  talents  of the     WNBA  that   has  become  a   stalwart  of the game.  She's  one  of  the  delights  of  the  female  game  of   basketball.    So  look  out  for  Sue    whenever  she's  on  court    as  she's  bound  to  give  us  a  great display.

    Swin  Cash  of  the  Detroit  Shock  is one  the  athletic and  agile  players  in  all  of  the WNBA  and  for  sheer  determination   there's  not  many  of  her  counterpart  that  can  match her   grit .
