Having  witnessed several  of the  games  over  the  weekend  one  of  the  observations  that    I've  clearly  made  is  that   is  that  when   you're  bad   you can be  exceedingly  bad   but   when   you're   good  and  you're  winning  then  all  is  right  with the  world.   The  games   that  I've  profiled   are  done  briefly   as    they're  my    observations   as  I   noted  them   over  the   afternoon   and  evening's  play.

Chicago  Bears 34   Detroit  Lions   7

Whatever  we  thought  about   the  Bears  we   should  carefully  rethink  at  this  moment because  if  yesterdays'  performance  was  anything  to  go  by   they  have  arrived  with  a  bang.   Rex  Grossman's  leadership  and  decision  making  was   decisive  and  the  fact  that  he  was  able  to   distribute  the  ball  so  efficiently,  hitting  seven  different  recivers  during  a span  of  twenty   three  plays  was incredible. We  know   about  their  defense   is  great,  which  is  where  they   excelled  last  year   but  if  their  offense  lives  up  to     the  display  given  yesterday   then    Bears'  fans   are  in  for  a  teat   this  season.  

For  the   Lions  it's  much  of  the  same  as  it  was  last  year.  There  doesn't  yet  seem  to  be  any   discipline  on  this  team  or  rather     the  players  are  just  awe  struck  once   they're  on  the  field.   Coach  Rod  Marinelli   and  offensive  coordinator  Mike  Martz  have  yet  to  get  this  team  on  the  same  page  and  if  anything  they   seem  somewhat  reminiscent   of  the  cartoon  characters    'Pinky   And The Brain'  as    they   experiment  to  assume    domination  of  the  NFL.

Atlanta  Falcons  14   Tampa  Buccaneers  3

What  should've  been  a  totally  enthralling  game  between  two  evenly matched  teams  ended  up  being  a total  mismatch.  The  Falcons  completely    outplayed  the  Bucs   in  all  facets of  the  game   especially  on  defense as they   held  to  less  than  100 yds  of   rushing  offense.   Vick  used  the dependable    running  back  Warwick  Dunn  to  surgically  cut  through   the  Buccaneers  much  vaunted   defense   as  it  was  shredded  for  over  320  rushing  yards .   Vick  also  was  no  slouch  himself     on  the  ground  using  his  feet   also    to  amass  over  120  yds    rushing.   For     Gruden   it  was  a  painful    display  by  his  team   as   he     now  has  to  go  back  to  the  drawing  board  to  prepare  for the  0-2  Carolina  Panthers who   are  chomping  at  the  bit  after    their  own  failings  at  Minnesota.   With  it  being  a  divisional   game  also  neither  team  can  afford  another  loss   at this  stage   of the  season  as  it  almost  certainly  deny  them    a   chance  of  winning  their division  let  alone  making  the playoffs.

San Diego Chargers  33   Tennessee  Titans  6

With the  departure  of  Drew  Brees   to  the  Saints  it  may well  have  been  felt  that  the  Chargers   would  struggle  at the  start  of  this  season    with  unseasoned  quarterback  Philip   Rivers.   Well  the  whole  world  knows  now  that   Rivers  is  a more than  adequate  replacement  for  Brees.  The   Chargers  clinical  dismantling   of    the    Titans  shows  that   they're  a  force  to  be  reckoned  with  in  the  AFC  West.    Rivers  and  running  back  LaDanian  Tomlinson  were  the stars  of  this  performance   as  they  combined  on  several  decisive  plays    throughout   the  game  that  were  often  spectacular  in  therir  conception.    For  the   Titans    it   was  a  disappointing    display  as  they    were   unable  to  do  anything    decisive. 

Buffalo  Bills  16   Miami   Dolphins  6

If   there  was  one  result    that   came  as  a complete  surprise  to  anyone    it  was  the  Dolphins'   loss     to   the  Bills.  Daunte  Culpepper   was  abysmal  at marshalling   his  players   and  what  was  even  more   surprising was  his  display   as  he  was  sacked    seven    times  by the    Bills'  secondary.  McGahee    ran  at  will   on  the  defense    and  at  no  time    were  the    Fins  able  to  muster   anything   positive  on  the  ground   or  in  the  air.   For  the  Bills   they  can  take  out  of this  a  positive  as  their  quarterback  J P  Losman    performed  adquately   .      For     coach   Nick  Saban  it's  back  to  the  drawing  board  to  try  and  find     the   reason for  this  deplorable  loss   which  may     have  just    torpedoed     the  Dolphins'  season  for  the  moment  as  they  face    a  monumental    task in    regaining  the  momentum  within  their  division.

Carolina  Panthers  13   Minnesota   Vikings   16

The  Vikings  may   well   have  found  themselves  a  rhythm  but    by  no   means  are  they  yet  ready  to  be  annointed  as   a  legitimate  contender as  they've  still  got  some   flaws  on  the  team.   The  Panters  however   are  in  complete   disarray   as  they    seem  to  lack confidence.     However  their    secondary    performed   admirably     often  at  times    keeping  the  team  within   reach  of  victory   but     the  offense  were  unable  to  convert  anything  once  they    had  possession  of  the  ball.

The  Vikings  will have  to  craft    an  offense  that's  fast  and  proficient  in  the  passing    game  as  at  times    they   struggled.  But    the  season  is  early  yet  and  all of     these  teams    will   have  to  refocus  themselves   for  the  ensuing     games   to  be  played.

It  would  appear  that   the  lines  between  entertainment   and   sports    are  forever  becoming  blurred.  As   the  battle  between   the  two  for  our  entertainment  dollar  continues   to   take  place one   has  to  wonder  how  the   major female   sports  and entertainment   personalities  measure  up   against  one  another.

Amanda  Beard   is  now  perhaps  the  US's   most  accomplished swimmer   who  now  models   her   own  exclusive  line  of  swimwear  through  Speedo.

Halle   Berry    the  Oscar  winning  actress   strikes a   pose  in   boxing  gloves  and  awaits  an opponent.  Needless  to   say  most  men   would  prefer  to  meet  our   outside  in  the  ring  and  perhaps  a  more   intimate  surrounding.

Lokelani  McMichael   is  one  of  the  premeire   female  triathletes  in  the  world.   McMichael     who  hails  from  Hawaii    makes   the  island  her  home  as  well   as  her  base   for  training.  She's  competed  the  world  over and  is  alaways  a  welcomed  sight  on the  beaches.  

 

Charlize   Theron,  the  South  African  born Oscar   winning  actress   has  been  all  the rage  recently , because   of  her  portrayals    of  strong  independent    roles.   Having  won   her  Oscar   for the  portrayal of  serial killer   Aileen Wournos, Theron  was  able  to  pick  her   roles  more  selectively   as  one  normally  does having  gained  wider  acknowledgement  for her  craft. 

Kristi  Leskinen  is  one  of the  country's  top  aerial   and  mogul's  skier and  has  represented  the country nationally  at   the  World  and  Olympic  championships.  This  layout  comes  courtesy  of  FHM magazine.

 Jennifer   Aniston  has  established  herself   in  Hollywood.   And  now  is  considered  of  the  one of the A  list  actresses  to  go  to  in  Hollywood.  Although  mostly confined  to  comedic   roles, she's now  trying  gain  a  wider  audience  by  going  for  more  dramatic   roles  that    calls   for    strong  female  character. 

Kaitlin   Sandeno   is  one  of this  country's   greatest  swimmer  and  whilst   training  for  the  Oympics  in  Beijing,  China  for   2008.   Sandeno   also  models   in  her  spare  time  and    has  been  on  the  covers  of   SI and FHM. 

Gabrielle  Union   is  probably  more  widely   known  for  her  role as  Martin  Lawrence's  younger  sister  in  the  sequel  to  Bad Boys.....Boys  II.  Prior  to  this  however  she   had  appeared in  several  independent  films  as  well  as  the   box  office  hit  Bring  It  On.

Australian   Lauren  Jackson   is  one  the  premier  basketbal  players  in  the  WNBA.   She's  now  representing  her  country  in  the  current   World Championships   ,  of  which   Australia  is  one  of   the  pre-favorites  for  the  tournament. 

Garcelle  Beauvais-Nilon   was  primarily  known  for  her  role  as  Fancy  in  Jamie  Foxx's  short  lived  sitcom   the  Jamie Foxx  show.  Once  the  show  was  cancelled  she  moved  on  to  movie  roles  on  the  big  screen  before  returning  episodic  television  in  a  recurring  role   as  the  ADA  in  NYPD  Blue.

  

Lelani  Maaja  Munter  is  a  driver  in  the NASCAR  Elite  Series  ,  which  is  one  of  the  lower  echelon  series affiliated  to  NASCAR.   Maaja  Munter  is  of  German  Japanese   extraction but born   in the   US.   Her  first  wish  wasn't  to  race    but  to work  as  a  sociologist.  Having  gained  an  MBA  from   UCLA   Berkley  she  gravitated  towards  the  sport  by  accident  and  the  rest as they  say  is  history.   She  seemed  to  have  an  instant  affinity  with the  sport  and  had   immediate  success  within the  lower  echelons.  She's  hoping  to  fullfil  her   ambition  and  race  in  NASCAR's    highest  series,  the  Nextel  Cup. 

Each   of  the    females    mentioned  in  this   article  has  found  success  within  their  chosen  profession  and  continue    to  follow  along  that   path  to  this  day.   You  may    well   decide  to  follow  their   careers  and  see  how  far   they'll  get  or    just    show  none  interest    and   survey their  beauty. 

Scarlett   Johansson  is  perhaps  the  most  sought  after  young  actress   in  Hollywood.   Having  made her  acting  debut  in  the  Robert  Redford  directed  movie  'The  Horse  Whipserer'   Johansson has  lit  up  the  screen   with  her  talent  and  is  now  considered  one  of  the  burgeoning  list   of  go  to  actresses on the  Hollywood  scene.

Grace  Park   the   Korean    golfer  has  been  a  staple  on  the  LPGA  Tour  for the  past     couple  of  years.  She's  found  success  on   the  tour    and  in  her    homeland  also.  She  was  one  of  the  first of  what   has  since  been   a  burgeoning  group   of  Asian   female  golfers  who   are making  a  home  and  name  for  themselves  on  the  Tour.

In  light  of the  amazing  season  that   Phillies'   first  baseman   Ryan  Howard  is  having    with  his  assault  on  the  record  books.   Should  we   be  asking   if   the  record   that  is  in  place   be  expunged  from   the  record  books  if   Howard   should   surpass  Maris'   mark  of   61   home  runs.   In  many   eyes  it's  still  seen  as  the  legitimate   mark  for   the  single  season  home  run  record.

Howard's  display  this  season   has  been  impressive  to  say  the  least as  he  leads  the  majors in  the  following  categories  home  runs 56, slugging  pctg  .682  ,  rbi's  138  and is in  the  top 5  also   in  ob pctg  .413,  on  base + slugging  1.095.  

                   

If   the  season   were   to  end  today   one  could  immeasurably  say  that   Howard   would  be  by  far   the   favorite   for   the  NL's  MVP   award   with  quite   possibly   only   Carlos  Beltran  being    his  closest  competitor. His  enthusiasm  for  the  game and  the   way  that he  competes  has  bouught  some   fresh   optimism   to   fans   as   they're  infused     by  his    infectious   play.   Although   the  same    could  be  said    of  McGwire  and   Sosa   in  '98    when   they   had  the  fans  eating  out  of   their  hands      as  they   provided   the  rarest   of   entertainment      with  their    phenomenal  power  hitting  as   they   chased    down   Maris'   record     of   61  home   runs.

Since  Maris   accomplished  the  feat ,  his total   has   been   surpassed   on   six  occasions  by    three      different  players  with  the  major  league   record  of  73  home  runs  being  held  by  Barry  Bonds ,  accomplished  in 2001. 

It's   thought  of   as    a  derogatory  term    but  has  now  become    synonymous  as  to  how  we     term  or  describe  a  woman.   Whether   or  not   they're   dressed  provocatively  it  shouldn't   be  used    to   describe   a  woman.   " Ho"   as   used   by   rappers  nowadays    has   to    be  dropped  from   our  everyday   use    as  it      clearly   defiles     a  woman  when   it's  used  as  a  colloquialism  or  in  any  demeaning  manner.   It's  not  the  way  it's  meant  to  be !  

 

Lil'   Kim  the  brash   female rapper  is  at     the  forefront    of  the   rap  scene but  has   had   a  tendancy   of  being   over  exuberant   and   trashy  but  it's  clearly   a  ruse   to   entice    the  fans  to   buy  he   CD's .   It's    not    part  and  parcel    of    her   personna    despite  her   most  recent   woes. 

Kelis'     return    to    the    Billboard   charts  and   her   marriage   to   fellow   rapper  Naz    has   somewhat    made  her   the    model   of  domesticity.   Now   residing  in   the  city   of    Atlanta  with   Naz ,   she's   made  it   clear  that      her   music  will   not  define   her  role   as   a woman.  It's   her    life  and  how   she   lives  it  that   will  define  it   and  her  relationships.   

 Trina  the   South  Florida  first   gained  notoriety   as  a  stripper  in  the  notorious    Rolexx  Club  of   N.  Miami   before  being  discovered   by   Luther  Campbell ,  the   founder   of  reverbial  rap  group   2  Live  Crew.   Her   raunchy   lyrics  infused  with   sexual   vernacular  and  profanities  in  no  way   limits   her    actions  on  stage  as  a  performer  but  it  somehow  may  validate  many  people's   actions   in  using  the  aforementioned  word.

R &  B   singer     left  behind  her    upbringing  with  the  none  secular  music  field    to   try  her  hand  at  secular  music.     And   without   a  doubt     it  was  a worthwhile  change.  Despite  the  initial  disappointment  to  her   family   she   felt  the  change  was  needed.      Having  done  so   she's   centered    her   music  around     the   trappings   of  life  and  relationships   never   straying  too   far   from    what  she's   been   taught    growing  up.

The   first  lady   of   Ruff  Ryders,  Eve    has  been  around   for   close  to   a  decade  defining   her   music     with   intrinsic  values  and  dealing     with  issues    that  one  wouldn't  normally   associate  with   rap   music.      Teenage  pregnancy  ,  abusive  relationships ,   drug   dependency  amongst  others  have   been  some  of   the  subject  matter    dealt   with  in  her  music.   A  second  career  beckoned  for  her  as    she     took   up  acting.  A  successful   comedy   series   on  network  tv    has   lead   to  Hollywood    where  film  roles  are   at  her  beckoning.    

 

 Da  Brat's   claim   to   fame  was   tthat    she  wads  the   first   female   rapper  to   go   platinum  on   the  Billboard   charts   and  laid  the  foundation   for  the  other   female   rappers    that   were   to  follow.   Although  no  longer   recording   on   a  regular   basis   she's   closely   associated   with  musical   ingenue    Mariah  Carey    for   whom   she's   collaborated   with   and   written   songs  for.      

The   original   'Il  Na  Na  '   Foxy  Brown    is   a  contemporary   of    Lil'  Kim  and  the   two   grew  up  together   in   New  York  city.  Having  entered  the  rap   scene   she's   a   tried   and  proven  talent  in   the  field  having   achieved  success  and  gained  notoriety    away   from  the  studio   for   her   personal   run  ins   with   law   enforcement.  

 Christina  Milian   is  the  latest   of  a bunch   of  r &  b  singers    that  are  making it  on   the  scene.    This   former  ingenue  and  companion  if  Nick  Cannon  has   certainly  made  a    name    for  herself  as  she  first    came  to  prominence  as  a  back  up  singer    for  Ja  Rule amongst   others.

In  light   of  the  need  to   subject   women   to   this   derogative   term   I   feel   there's   now   a  need  to   stop  the  use  of  the  word be  it  by   anyone  who   hasn't  the  command  of   the  English   language .    It's   now  become   an  unnecessary   evil  and  signals  nothing   but   ignorance  by   anyone    who   decides   to   use   the   term.

  I'm    a   fan   of  the   female  and   it   probably   makes  me   an  overtly    misogynistic  individual    but  far  from  it   as  I'm   totally   respectful  of  all  females,   be  they    a  sister  ,  cousin,   friend  or  grilfriend.      Most  knowingly  I'm  not  afraid    to   discuss   the  finer  points   of  the  fairer   sex     to  anyone   who'll   listen.

No  longer  part  of  the  cast     of  7th  Heaven  the   delectable    Jessica   Biel   now  is  making  a  name   for    herself     on  the  big  screen.      She  can   be  currently  seen  in  the  costume    drama   The   Illusionist   alongside   actor  Edward  Norton ,  her  co  star.  

 Make  no  mistake  the  beatuiful Jessica  Alba  is  here    to  stay   and  isn't   just  another  young  starlet  that'll   fade   off  into   the   sunset   with  a  short   lived  career.     She's   proving  that's   her  intention  to   remain  a  stalwart  of  the  big   screen  and   remain  in  our  conscience  for  the   foreseeable    future.

Like  her  father   Laila   Ali    aspired    to  be  a  boxer   and   has   realized  that   fact  by  establising  herself     as   perhaps   the   premier    female   fighter   in  the  world   at  the  moment.     She's    presently   recognized  as   the    World   Champion  at   the  super  middleweight    divison  by    the   WIBA .      Not   one  to  shy  away  from  showing   her   femininity    Ali   is   proud  to   prove   that   she's  capable   in  the  ring  as  a  boxer     but     she   remains   a  lady   outside  the ring.

 

Jenny   McCarthy  and   perhaps   Sara  Silverman    can  lay   claim   as  to  being  the  two  funniest   women   working  in  comedy   today   but  without  a  doubt    McCarthy   may  well  be  the  most  recognized .    Her   layouts  for   FHM   and    Playboy   laid  the  groundwork   for  her    rise   in  the  entertainment    world.   Having   appeared     regularly  in   films   and  on   tv    McCarthy     has   become   a  successful    author    who   has   penned   two  books  that  were on  the  N Y   Times'   bestseller's  list.   McCarthy's    humor  although  colorful  and   crude  has   had  a  way   of    capturing  all    the  observations   of  life    and    scrutinizing   it  in  such  a  way   that  makes    us  think .  

Jenny   Finch  is  perhaps  the  most  recongnizable  face  on  the  US's   championship  winning  team .    Having   won  medals   at   all  the  major   international  levels   within  the  sport.  She's  hopeful   of  being   on  the  team  that'll    compete   at  this  year's   World  Cup   as  well    the  Olympics  in  Beijing  2008 .   A  commitment   from  Finch   concerning    her   retirement     from  the  sport  and  the  loss  of   their  most   prominent   member   isn't   on   the  cards   for   the     moment  as she's   let   it   be   known   that    she's   intent  on   representing    her    country. 

Many   who   saw  the   film   'Ray'    were    fascinated  by   the   female   who  played   Charles'  wife    in  the   film.     Well  it  was   none  other   than    Kerry   Washington.   One    of   the   many     young   accomplished   African  American   actresses  working   within   Hollywood   at  the   moment.
