"Through the confluence of commerce and cable television, a crooked road finally is made straight.
It took the NCAA and ESPN to see the wisdom of scheduling the University of Delaware and Delaware State University in football when the two schools - OK, UD - couldn't seem to find a way to make it happen for eight decades.
That it is happening for the first time this afternoon, in the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs, at Delaware's Tubby Raymond Field in Newark, with a berth in the national quarterfinals at stake, only heightens the drama between the state's big school and the one that was created in 1891 because African Americans weren't allowed to attend the more-prestigious UD." This passage is from philly.com, posted here because of how it describes the climate in today's 1:30 game.
So here it is. Today, for the first time ever University of Delaware versus Delaware State. There's a huge history of race, class and power attached to this. However, today, it's my most sincere hope, that after what should be a great game, that this opens that door for the future of these 2 schools meeting every season, and making this an event that students and fans of every race and class can look forward to.
