Going going gone.
Hey there and welcome to PHILADELPHONIC. Now because there are zillion better things to read on the internet. I'd figure I'd tell you about me. And whether you love this or hate this, at least after this, you'll know if you'd actually want to read this. So here we go...
- I was born in Queens, New York, about one block from the Met's SHEA STADIUM. However, soon relocated. And location wise, became a Philly fan. I spent my formative years in a town called Avondale, about 25 minutes away from the "Town That Rocked the Nation", Philadelphia, PA. I discovered 3rd baseman Mike Schmidt, and the rest, is history.
- Being a Philadelphia Phillies fan. It's a great thing to be, but also, a very tough thing to be. The closest I can describe the feeling is by making this comparison. Ever play Mike Tysons "PUNCH-OUT!" for the original nintendo?
"Help Me Doc!"-LITTLE MAC on the greatest game ever. Glass Joe was a punk.
And while playing "punch-out", your fighter LITTLE MAC gets knocked down, but unfortunatley, you let Little Mac take a beating for the whole game, but, in order to get him to stand back up...you have to pound on the nintendo controller until you have no feeling left in your thumbs? Well that initial rush, when you get LITTLE MAC to stand halfway up, only to go numb as he falls right back down at the last minute? That is the EXACT feeling of being a Phils fan every year. This analogy won't make sense to everyone, but the ones who do "get it"? They will now know the exact feeling of a lifetime Phils fan.
- Shaq vs. Kobe? Who stays? Who goes? I was on Shaq's side. Why? The man is 7 feet and 300 plus pounds. You keep a guy like that on your team. And keep in mind Kobe Bryant is from Philadelphia, and I'm still on Shaq's side. Another reason? He not only can hold his own against the NBA, he can hold his own against a red faced and angry Nick Nolte in BLUE CHIPS. And does Kobe have an album called "SHAQ FU"? The answer is NO. Advantage? Shaq Attack. Los Angeles? You made a bad choice.
Don't worry Shaq I didn't forget your work with the Fu Schnickens either.
- Since the lockout, I just couldn't get into hockey. However I'm thinking of an idea, where I go to every NHL team, and say "hey I'm a free agent fan, convince me to follow your team". Hockey wasn't loyal to the fans, so I think I'm okay with telling them to convince me to be their fan.
- However, I wish I still had NHL 96. That and my SEGA, that got me through about 3 years. NHL 97 was the "TEMPLE OF DOOM" essentially. It was okay, but just not as good as the previous one.
- I don't think the Barry Bonds thing is a black or white thing. i think it's a "how did that dude's head get so huge" thing.
- I am an Eagles fan, but I have morbid curiosity to see what the New York Giants are up to. The New York Giants have more drama than a soap opera "Will Michael Stahan show up? Is Eli Manning REALLY related to Peyton Manning or his he just another case of a younger brother with nowhere near the talent of the older brother?" Eli is sort of the football equivalent of DON SWAYZE.
Don, on the far left. The cinematic equivalent of Eli Manning.
- I grew up as a pro wrestling addict. I remember being inconsolable when the British Bulldogs lost the tag team titles to the Hart Foundation because of referee Danny Davis' lying cheating ways.
I can only imagine that when Hulk Hogan first lost his championship title. I may have gone into a fierce downward spiral. Which, as an 11 year old, meant eating an entire pepperidge farm cake and passing out on the couch.
- I have attended NACSCAR events. They've all been crazy. I will share all of those stories. Right here.
- The most truthful and honest website that I have ever read is right here, www.ColeHamelsFacts.com just read it and fear it's true true words. You won't be able to find more honest words, anywhere.
So there it is. That's the sort of sports fan that I am. This will be a little bit of everything. So please visit. Often.
Until next time.
