Time for Pete Rose to be reinstated ,you say he bet on baseball,well he did,but betting in America is legal.americans bet all day long.they gamble on everything. See baseball has this false since of being pure but its just as corrupt has any other sport.They turned a blind eye to whole steroid issue ,then they act like they werent aware it was going on,come on now the public is smarter than that.I say let Pete back in ,finish cleaning up the steroid issue,and lets move baseball foward.
The game is fun again,exciting baseball is being played all over America ,this is the country of forgiveness.America wiped Japan practically off the map and now there our friends.
All your points are valid,but people break rules,and laws all day, for instance smoking weed is illegal people smoke all day, Rules apply to 9 t 5ers,if you have status most of the time Rules Don't apply,you go to a club they have a dress code ,a star comes in wearing jeans he ushered in right away ,let pete in
If Gambling isn't illegal then why is a certain ex-NBA ref in jail (or maybe he's out now)? Tim Donaghy was basically in the same position as Pete Rose, should we let him ref games after he's "paid his dues"?
It's not about whether Pete bet against his own team, tho that is certainly one concern. More worrisome is when cousin Vinny comes knockin on the door, wanting what you owe, or... shave the score and we'll call it even? Oh, by the way Mr. Rose, do you really need ALL those fingers to bat?
When the innocent, original Charlie Hustle, Shoeless Joe, gets in, then we can revisit Pete. Where is the accountability anymore? Pete knew the rules, he knew the consequences, and now he's paying the price. But he's the one who blew it, it's his own fault.
Baseball is a mess. Steriods are what everyone is focused on but what is needed is a level (money-wise) playing field. Right now its the "haves" (few) and the "have nots" (many). The players union is WAY too strong and shoot down anything baseball does to control salaries ($3.5 Million/Year is "a little much" for a light hitting, average fielding shortstop, don't ya think?). Until baseball gets a cap, more importantly a salary floor, it will continue to decline. Its a shame; it use to be a great game. Also, AL needs to lose the DH; no strategy; its all Whack and Hack.
P.S. You're right about Pete Rose (he says he never bet against his own team!); while we're at it, lets lift the ban on "Shoeless" Joe Jackson since he was never convicted of accepting a bribe to throw the 1919 Series.

Hey, Shoeless Joe's teammates said he wasn't involved in throwing the WS, yet he's still out of the HOF.
Selig is looking for love, so Rose may be vote eligible someday.
