If Ken Shamrock has learned anything in his MANY years on this earth, it is how to be an over-the-top, hype machine. Being a former WWF (or whatever they call it these days) star, Shamrock is a master of self promotion. Yesterday afternoon, I had the privilege of representing SRM on a media conference call for the upcoming EliteXC bout between Kimbo Slice and Ken Shamrock, and got to witness first hand what an irrational douche bag Shamrock can be.

            I have to say, EliteXC's choice of pinning these two fighters against each other is completely transparent. Ken Shamrock even acknowledged and took offense to the fact that he is "...being served up as a stepping stone for Kimbo." He responded to a question on his thoughts about that perception by saying that he would "....smash that thought back in everyone's face." Even after EliteXC head of fight operations Jeremy Lappen insisted that that was not the motivation behind scheduling this fight, Shamrock said, "You know how I am, I look for anything to piss me off..."

            Aside from this being an obvious attempt to try and add some legitimacy to Kimbo's rise on the MMA scene, Ken was right, they do know him; they knew that all they had to do was sign Ken on and let him do all the hyping up. That's what he does, Vince McMahon paid him tons of money to do it, and this is no different. He was completely antagonistic during the call, and it was an obvious charade on his part.
