Hate To Say I Told You So...

[trade rumors]
...but when it came to my latest article on players I didn't see moving at the deadline, I told you so.
I stated that Todd Bertuzzi, Brad Richards, Roberto Luongo, Nikolai Khabibulin, Bryan McCabe, Sheldon Souray, Andrew Raycroft and Shane Doan wouldn't be traded on deadline day, and I was proven right.
Well, except for that Willie Mitchell trade, but it's the fact that I got all the rest right that counts! It's my blog and I said so, that's why!
There were inquiries made for some of those players, especially for Bertuzzi, despite his hefty salary, personal baggage and declining production.
But ultimately the asking price for these guys was simply too rich for other teams to willingly absorb.
Still, as we saw with the Joe Thornton, Sergei Fedorov and Jose Theodore trades, anything can happen. Ultimately, nobody is untradeable.... except for those guys I noted for this season.
One day, perhaps...but not today!
I didn't do too badly on the players I predicted would be dealt. Witt, Roloson, Weinrich and Recchi all moved on as I expected, even if some went to clubs I didn't expect (hello, there, Recchi). Only Joseph stayed put.
Anyway, I'm done patting myself on the back now.
**UPDATE** Seems I can't have a little bit of fun without somebody giving me some flak. Got an e-mail from a reader who "didn't like my attitude" regarding this post.
Look, I'm just having a bit of fun. I'm not rubbing this into anyone's face, OK? It's been a long, busy 30 hours and I'm just unwinding.
