Another defenseman is off the NHL's unrestricted free agent market before it opens at noon ET today.
The New Jersey Devils re-signed Bryce Salvador to a four-year contract extension worth $2.9 million per season.
Salvador was traded to the Devils from the St. Louis Blues at the February trade deadline and his defensive skills impressed GM Lou Lamoriello enough to reward him with a lucrative raise over the $1.5 million he earned last season split between the Devils and Blues.
Lamoriello is also hoping to retain long-time Devils forwards Sergei Brylin and Jay Pandolfo and is reportedly interested in UFAs Brian Campbell, Marian Hossa and Brendan Shanahan, plus there are rumors he could bring back former Devils Brian Rolston and Brendan Morrison.
Expect the Devils general manager to be a busy man today.
