The Tootoo train will keep on chuggin' in Nashville, as the Predators announced the re-signing of feisty forward Jordin Tootoo to a two-year contract extension worth just under $1 million per season.
Predators' general manager David Poile has listed Tootoo among the restricted free agents he wished to re-sign prior to July 1st. The rest include forward Martin Erat and defensemen Shea Weber and Ryan Suter, whom Poile will likely re-up in the coming months to prevent them from becoming possible targets for offer sheets from rival teams. .
Of these Tootoo was the easiest to re-sign, but no less necessary. An energetic, hard-hitting forward, Tootoo is the type of player every team hates to play against but loves to have on their team, whose antics can drive rivals to distraction.
Tootoo has become a fan favorite in Nashville and his re-signing could alleviate concerns of some Predators fans over the possibility of their club perhaps engaging in another "fire-sale" of talent this year.
