A storied NFL career cam crashing to an end this week when Brett Favre announced his retirement again. His career has now ended twice and I believe he in truly done this time. After being called out by his running back for having lost his ability to throw the ball, it seems like now is truly the time for Favre to hang up the cleats and truly put an end to his career. Thank you Thomas Jones for having the guts to say what nobody in Green Bay was willing to tell him, 'that his arm was done and it is time to stop.'
Unlike in Green Bay however, where he went out on as high of a note as one could of imagined, by brining a mediocre team to the NFC championship and loosing to the eventual super bowl champs, this time he had to bring a good team down with him. The Jets may have been the best team in the AFC East when Tom Brady went down. They were the most well rounded at least, and Favre simply dragged the talent down like an anchor as his arm left for retirement in week 10. His inability to throw passes not only cost them a playoff birth, but it also cost the New England Patriots the same when they were unable to beat the cinderella Dolphins who were by no means ready as a team to take on the playoff caliber talent of the rest of the AFC. By doing this, he lost about every possible ounce of respect I had for him and confirmed my already profound hatred of Brett Favre, which came about after he announced his un-retirement. Now, I had the utmost respect for him when he called it quits the first time. The whole thing was so classy and well done I could not help but applaud the end of a storied NFL career. But, as soon as he came back and dragged the Packers team through the mud along with is reputation all my respect went right out the window. And to go to Jets? Ha. They are back where they started now trying to decide whether there future lies in the hands of Kellen Clemens or Mark Sanchez (if they get so lucky). So I thank you Brett for making the Jets look like fools and making yourself seem like a bigger one for not sticking to your word.
