About three years or so ago now, the Food Network did a segment on the best ballpark food in America. Prominently displayed in the Safeco Field portion (if you knew it was her) was my oldest daughter serving someone an Ivar Dog (no, it's not a hot dog....it's a fish sandwich with cod, coleslaw and a great sauce).
Last year about this time, I did a post on my favorite stadium food. Since we have so many new members in our community now, I figured that it was time for a little reprise on that topic.
Seen above are the justifiably famous Safeco Field Garlic Fries. I have the actual proprietary recipe for them, but, if I give it to you, I will have to kill you, because that is what Ivars would do to me...... I love them, except when somebody sitting near me is silly enough to put malt vinegar on them, then it is like getting hit with a cloud of noxious chlorine gas. Note to those persons: Garlic and vinegar do NOT mix!!!
I'm also extremely fond of the Terrace Club's (Safeco Field) hand carved roast beef sandwiches on Kosher rye with horseradish sauce. (This does not, of course, mean that I don't have the occasional twinge of regret for not having had a Dodger dog in years, along with In'N'Out, Carl's Junior, Del Taco and Long John Silvers.....but, just like those other SoCal fast food outlets, I'm not traveling 1500 miles just to get one. If it is baseball season next time I'm there, then OK).
So, my friends, lay it on us...what are your favorite ballpark/stadium/arena foods (and where are they to be found)?
