After nearly a century of utter domination by the Brox Bombers it appeared the Red Sox had finally reached the level of their archrivals. Finally, this rivalry would have two championship teams duking it out. Finally, the Red Sox weren't the "lovable losers" and were finally a match for the Yankess.

After the Red Sox had won the World Series in 2004 and almost won the AL East last year it appeared as if the two would be on equal footing. And then this...

Again, the Evil Empire has ripped the face off of Red Sox nation and absorbed it into its fold. It has taken the beloved of Boston and made him just another clean shaven, company-line towin' Yankee. Despite saying he would never play for the Yankees Damon fell to the dark side anyway. Now collectively the Red Sox faithful will question if he believed what he was saying or was placating the masses as he sensed free agency coming. The lure of 4 years and 53 million dollars was too much for him to stand. The Brox has a new bomber and Red Sox nation has a hole in its heart.
