Despite the addition of former Chargers offensive coordinater Cam Cameron as Miami's head coach, he will be hard-pressed to make Trent Green into a Top 10 fantasy quarterback like Green achieved with Kansas City.
More than a dozen quarterbacks who rank ahead of him include Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Donovan McNabb, Marc Bulger, Matt Hasselbeck, Tony Romo, Jon Kitna, Michael Vick, Vince Young, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers and Brett Favre.
The Dolphins have two solid wide receivers with Chris Chambers and Marty Booker, but lost quality receivers in No. 3 wideout Wes Welker and tight end Randy McMichael to free agency. No. 1 draft pick Ted Ginn, Jr. isn't expected to contribute significantly as a wideout in his first season.
In addition, Green turns 37 in July and is an injury-risk with his mobility. He missed half of last season with a head injury.
It's unlikely Green will approach his career highs of 4,591 yards set in 2004 and his personal best of 26 touchdowns compiled in '02.
However, Chambers remains a top 30 fantasy receiver with his big-play ability, though his fantasy stock has slipped considerably He was considered a Top 10 receiver by some after compiling his first 1,000-yard season and scoring 11 times in 2005. Yet he gained only 677 yards and scored just four times last season, in part, because of quarterback instability from both Daunte Culpepper and Joey Harrington.
If Green becomes injured or falters, rookie John Beck from BYU could be ready by mid-season to start. Otherwise, Daunte Culpepper would receive the nod as Miami's No. 2 quarterback if he remains with the team.
