As always someone has an opinion on Tiger Woods and no matter what it happens to be. There's always a controversy that'll amount from that opinion and then some. The latest to make a statement be it opinion and dependent upon how one views it has been none other than PGA Tour player Rory Sabbatini. His own words came back to bite him in the proverbial a*s once again. It wasn't that long ago that Sabbatini was making noise about how Woods' game had tailed off and that seemingly shroud of invincibility was now wearing thin and he was now no longer unbeatable and could be beaten.

Well judging by Sabbatini's own meltdown at Firestone during the last round of WGC championship held there Tulsa, OK. I think he ought to keep his mouth shut and just concentrate on his own golf game and let the world just watch an artist at work. It's not as if Sabbatini has a masterpiece hanging around somewhere. To date Woods has an even dozen of them around as a sign of his proficiency on the links as well as another 46 plus victories worldwide. As for Sabbatini has he even won anything of merit worth mentioning ? Woods' victory was done with a seemingly needless amount of ease as he won by eight strokes over second place finishers Justin Rose and Rory Sabbatini. Having pocketed the winner's check for $1,350,000 . Woods must be quite confident about his chances in the final major of the season. Having finished a commendable second to Padraig Harrington the British Open. It can be said that by even his lofty standards this season so far hasn't been one of measurable success. But he's had multiple wins on the tour so he shouldn't feel aggrieved.

With the PGA championship starting this Thursday at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa , Oklahoma . Woods must feel that his game is at a level where he'll be able to acquit himself well and make an effort to win the final major of the season and not have a dry spell of not having won a majorin the '07 PGA tour season. He'll start out the favorite based alone on his most recent display where all facets of his game appeared to be in order. The tournamant itself will be about Tiger and whether or not he'll place any pressure on himself intrying to win that elusive final major of the season having come so close in Carnoustie , Scotland at the British Open. For the others who had a run they'll have to set themselves for a monumental fight against the world's premiere player if he's clicking on all cylinders. As it's well known that Woods doesn't make a habit of letting victories slip out of his grasp all too often. With enough points already attained for the season ending The Fedex Cup style playoffs where a monumental $10m payday awaits the winner, the largest prize in golf history. It can be reasonably assumed that Woods would also like lay claim to that feat also of having won the game's largest purse ever.

With the upcoming PGA championship bound to be a sellout over all four days of the tournament and the usual audience watching in anticipation on television throughout the course of the event. There's bound to be more than the usual passing interest in the tournament itself. Woods' game is back at its usual peak and his only real opponent may be no one other than himself psychologically. As all the other major ranked players have been having problems as of late to varying degrees with different apsects of their game. And now is most certainly not the time to be having such problems ! It'll be paramount if any of them are to make a really strong showing that their is at its peak, if they're to beat Woods.

Ochoa has certainly proved why she's now the world's number one ranked female player having overtaken former number one rankled player Annika Sorenstam in the last year. It's been Ochoa's sheer consistency and the level of golf that she's been playing that has seen move to the top of the field. Her allround game is very good and her putting is one of her greatest strengths as a player on the LPGA tour. Having won her first major after her twenty third attempt . Ochoa is proving that with her level of play this won't certainly be her last ever chance of winning a major. Her confidence is now sky high and knowing that she's clearly the number one ranked player has given her a lot more confidence to go out and display her exceptional talents as a golfer. Sorenstam having come of back surgery as well as other ailments is slowly finding her way back into the game and is hoping to reach the level where she once reigned supreme at the top of women's golf.

It should be noted that Ochoa is the first woman from the country of Mexico to have won a major in the sport of golf. She's treated with great reverrence in the country of her birth and is seen as something of a role model for young girls are now showing an intrest in the sport. Whereas this would not have been the case some years back. But with the growing popularity of the sport in the country and amongst females. It can be said that through Ochoa's success and recognition this may well bode well for the sport in the country and amongst the females there also who are now showing an interest in the sport. It can also be said that with Ochoa's success and that of more international players from across the globe finding success on the LPGA tour it has brought the sport back to the forefront where it once layed solely on the shoulders of players like Sorenstam and Se Ri Pak. With the emergence of young players like Morgan Pressel, Natalie Gulbis, Brittany Linncicome and several others along with a slew of Korean prodigies. The game of women's golf has never been as popular as it is now today.

It's hoped that with Ochoa's success and the remergence of Sorenstam we can at least see where there'll be some sort of rivalry in the sport also. As that'll definately have an influence on not only the emergence of the sport but also bring more fans out to the links to watch the events.
