- The holding call on the Steelers last drive- How can you throw a flag on that. Perhaps its retribution as Warner's Rams and James's Colts complained to the league after the Patriots DB's roughed them up in years past. Seriously though how does the league expect DB's to cover receivers like Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, and Randy Moss if they can't play physical with them. It's a downright awful rule which of changed would hurt my Patriots the most, but it needs to be changed.
- The personal foul on Adrian Wilson- Again really! He was practically falling down and his momentum took him into the holder. There was nothing malicious about the hit, and in a situation like that the refs should have let it go plain and simple.
- The roughing the passer penalty- As a former defensive end myself nothing makes me sicker than this no hitting the QB rule. Ben Roethlisburger is a big dude who can take a hit. So why is hitting the QB less than 1 second after he throws the ball a penalty. This is just the NFL protecting its golden boys. How does the NFL expect teams to play defense under these conditions?
Is there now a big 3 reguarding QB's?
For years all the focus has been on Tom Brady and Peyton Manning as the league's best at the position. However, the 26 year old Roethlisburger may have positioned himself to join that group. He certainly doesn't play as flashy as the other two, and doesn't have quite the same resume as them. However, he seems to have the attitude and the swagger. Plus 2 Super Bowls in 5 years is very impressive.

3 Quarterbacks, 6 rings pretty impressiveRandom thoughts:
- I love the way Adrian Wilson plays football. He reminds me of Rodney Harrison in the way he plays. More like a linebacker than a safety he is an impressive physical presence. Unlike Polamalu and Reed who are more highly hyped players like Wilson make just as big of an impact. If you watch him closely you see him around the ball basicaly every play.
- The Cardinals defense is better than I thought Dansby, Docket, Wilson, and DRC impress me as a good young defensive core.
- The Steelers have a really good fanbase. I respect small market teams with loyal fanbases who deserve all the success that they have achieved. They continue to sellout their stadium unlike the Jaguars who have to cover the upper level of their stadium to make it look like they are selling out.
- The AFC is going to be incredibly tough next season. The Steelers, Patriots, Colts, Chargers, Titans, and Ravens all could be better than the winner of the NFC next year. It's going to be one crazy ride.
- Larry Fitzgerald is good, Calvin Johnson is better. I've seen them both play and they seem about equal right now, but Calvin Johnson has just scratched the surface of his potential. Plus, he played with the immortal Dan Orlovsky, Daunte Caulpepper, Jon Kitna, and Drew Stanton this year. Think Fitzgerald with freakish speed, and more athleticism.
- Bruce Springsteen was an awesome halftime show. I've had 10th Avenue Freeze-Out stuck in my head all game
- That Hulu commercial was hilarious, coming from somebody who melts his brain with that stuff all the time.
Fellow Patriots fans I will be doing a detailed offseason blog periodically. Hopefully I will get the time to cover free agents they should go after, the Brady Cassel/ Seymour Wilfork dilemmas, the Draft, and the 2 young D stars Meriweather and Wilfork.
