While Selection Sunday is the most exciting day of the year for some teams, it is also the most disappointing day for other teams. The day is even more disappointing when you know that you would be a tournament team if it weren't for a fluke injury.

The Saint Mary's Gaels finished the season 26-6. They were 20-2 when Patrick Mills, but struggled when he broke his hand in a game at Gonzaga. Including that game the Gaels lost three of their next four games and probably lost their shot at the big danc right then and there. They had a chance to fight their way back in and despite getting blown out in the conference final by Gonzaga, I feel that they still deserved a chance because Patrick Mills will get better day by day as his hand gets healthier and healthier. Mills was rusty to be expected and that is to be expected for someone who is coming back after so much missed time. The Gaels can't be punished for having a rusty point guard can they? Well, apparently they can.
