Marian Gaborik...the next Redden, Gomez or Drury...or the next Jagr?

If he stays healthy he is a potential 45 goal scorer and one of the top goal poachers in the NHL. For 7.5 million dollars a year the NY Rangers have once again cap tied their hands, but this time have added a player that does not need a creative center and is explosive on all sides of the ice. Gaborik will be paired up with Brandon Dubinsky and Long Island native Chris Higgins this season. This will give the Rangers a number 1 line that has evaded them for 3 seasons now, not to mention a 40 goal scorer.

We now have little room to manuver after the recent signings and have to resign Callahan, Dubinsky, Zherdev(why???), Boyle, Korpikoski and Potter. We have defensive issues because we only have 4 defensemen, so that means that Potter, Sauer or Sanguinetti will start. But...to start 2 ROOKIE Defensemen is crazy...go and resign Mara for a short term deal and groom whoever does not start because Del Zotto and Gilroy are still a way away. Zubov, the ex-NYR Stanley Cup Champion would be a perfect fit for ONE season. He is coming off surgery this offseason(same dude that operated on Gaborik), and for a cheap price we are getting a puck moving, veteran defenseman that can teach the lads a bit. So, go get Mara or Zubov!
