    NFL Division Picks

Tuesday, September 4, 2007, 08:48 AM EST [General]

With the NFL season rapidly approaching, I think it is now time to give my picks for who is going to win each division.  The NFL offers a lot of parity but generally every team that is good, usually is good unless they have just lost everyone.

    My picks for the Divisions:

    • NFC East - Philadelphia
    • NFC West - Seattle
    • NFC North - Chicago
    • NFC South - New Orleans
    • NFC Wild Card Teams - Dallas, St. Louis
    • AFC East - New England
    • AFC West - San Diego
    • AFC North - Cincinnati
    • AFC South - Indianapolis
    • AFC Wild Card Teams - Baltimore, Denver

Tomorrow I will give you my playoff picks

    HBO's Hard Knocks

Thursday, August 23, 2007, 06:46 AM EST [General]

Driving around in my car before work, and heard the local sports radio guy talking about this show on HBO called "Hard Knocks: Training camp with the Chiefs" and I was somewhat interested, so i decided to check it out.

I came home after work, flipped on my tv and began to watch.  This show is so ground breaking because it offers you a vision into an NFL training camp that you can only get with being on an NFL team.  From showing what dorm life is like, to the pranks guys will play on each other, to how a individual  player spends his down time at camp.

This show is excellent, so I recommend it to everyone, it is on Wednesday nights at 10 pm on HBO.

Now to go a little off topic, i wanted to mention an idea that I had to really show fans what an NFL training camp is like.  I hope that someone picks this up and i don't realy care who does, but my idea is, have a sports writer actually spend an entire training camp with a particular NFL team, and then write a daily blog post about what happened that day.

Speaking in hypotheticals, say Joe Smith is a local beat writer for the San Diego Chargers.  Let's have the team put him into an extra wide receiver and have in place for the odd play with the third team offense.  Have him talk about what is happening at team meetings, what the rooming conditions are like and what pranks players have played on him.

Have him go in as a rookie so no one but the fans know that he isn't a player, but he is a sports writer giving the fans a first hand experience to what training camp is really like.

    Just an idea,
