First Blog!!!
Hey everybody, just wanted to start a discussion on the 10 best active players in the NBA today (Note: This list is not referring to players' career rather their play as of the past few seasons). My list goes like this:
1. Kobe Bryant - The greatest scorer after Michael Jordan's retirement, and probably in the Top 3 all time. Kobe is the best player in the league today. No question.
2. Lebron James - This guy is good! From his strength to his stats, he is phenomenal and unstoppable. Just take a look at his mind blowing stats and you'll understand. To top it all off he is on the verge of leading his team to the NBA Finals all at the age of 22.
3. Tim Duncan - Perhaps the best career (along with Shaq) after MJ's retirement. He has led his team to the NBA Finals yet again and will most likely walk away with his fourth ring and fourth Finals MVP.
4. Dwyane Wade - 2005-2006 Finals MVP at the young age of 24, averaged 34.7 ppg in the Finals and single handedly dismantled the Dallas Mavericks in the last four games of the NBA Finals.
5. Steve Nash - The best point guard in the game today, and one the Top 5 at his position all time. The 2 time MVP still has to show that he can win a Championship to go any higher on this list.
6. Dirk Nowitzki - The best shooting big man in the history of the NBA. Not only did he lead his team to 67 wins (yeah I know, his team got devastated in the playoffs) he also had amazing numbers of 50% FG, 40%3FG and 90%FT.
7. Yao Ming - Quickly establishing himself as the most dominant center in the game today, Yao demonstrates extreme finesse in his game as is demonstrated by his 86% FT shooting and often shoots his teams Technical foul shots, however in order to establish himself among the all-time greats Yao needs to start winning some Championships and has to stay healthy.
8. Kevin Garnett - The Big Ticket! Fills up the stat sheet like crazy and is considered on the best power forwards of all time (Ranked 6th on ESPN's top ten power forwards of all time). KG is an amazing player hobbled by a horrible team, and were it not for his playoff woes he would be ranked a lot higher.
9. Carmelo Anthony - Second this year in scoring average, Melo is ready to establish himself as the leagues premier scorer for years to come, though he has to start winning some playoff games to go anywhere beyond a scoring champion.
10. Chris Bosh - Though often left out of discussion of the 2003 draft class of Lebron, Wade and Melo, CB4 has demonstrated this year that he is a force to be reckoned with, leading his team to a 20 game turnaround (The biggest turnaround this season) and a playoff spot this season, Bosh has certainly earned himself the right to be mentioned in the same breath as his fellow Draft class stars.
Honourable Mention (in no particular order): Allen Iverson, Shaquille O'Neal, Carlos Boozer, Baron Davis, Tracy McGrady, Amare Stoudemire, Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, Ray Allen, Chauncey Billups.
Well there it is, please comment and leave your own Top 10 list (with reasons of course).
