D.Lee out for at least 6weeks... frickin' Furcal!!

Thursday, April 20, 2006, 08:58 PM EST [General]

You know, sometimes there's just no punishment for things that happen.

I know, I know, there are many people out there who will defend Furcal... but he was running on the 3rd base side of the baseline, and he ran into Derek, who was standing completely still, and, to my eyes, rammed his hipbone into Lee's body, striking his wrist. This was almost as flagrant as ARod trying to knock the ball out of the firstbaseman's hand two years ago. So basically, I don't believe that it was an accident...

The good thing is that Derek shouldn't be out too long, and once he comes back, he should be in top form.

Twenty bucks says that when Doggie saw it happen, he said, "Oh, man... hairline fractures...shit..." If you don't know what I mean, check out the article on Maddux by  George F Will called "The Artistry of Mr. Maddux" and read the last few paragraphs... My Doggie can be a bit spooky with his ability to look ahead into the future... Purrrrrr!

In the Dugout... it's where I want to be!

Thursday, April 20, 2006, 01:14 AM EST [General]

Okay, I admit it: I would frickin' LOVE to sit on the bench next to Maddy and just chat with him during a game... I'm sure that there's a million things that one could learn sitting next to him, plus, he's always laughing... *sigh*...

It was nice to see the Cubs pull out a win. I have to say, when we first brought Ronny Cedeno into the line-up, I wasn't so sure that he would produce much, but he has really shown himself to be a player on the rise.

I certainly hope that Derek Lee and Scott Eyre will be all right. I can't imagine that anything's broken, but from personal experience, I know that sometimes its better to break something than to sprain it. I know, I know, that sounds absolutely nuts, but trust me, it's true. I severely sprained my ankle a few years back, and it still aches and cracks at times. Anyway, I bet that the boys will be better and back in the line-up soon: there's a day off and then we hit St. Louis.

Okay everyone, say it with me, "All Power to the Bullpen!"

Tuesday, April 18, 2006, 11:53 PM EST [General]

Say it with me because they need it! Our bullpen has its hit or miss moments again! Granted, it wasn't that bad of a loss, but really, when you walk someone when you're in the bottom of the ninth with a tied score, then you aren't doing your job. We've got to get the bullpen in order if we're going to get anywhere this year.

I feel sorry for Carlos Zambrano... he's the one who isn't getting the run support this year. Last year it was Mad Dog, and I was about to pull my hair out. Z-man goes down with yet another ND, which sucks, but is better than a loss.

I had to love that the first few minutes of the game were spent talking about Doggie and showing him in the dugout, attacking a big bag of sunflower seeds... :-)

    Doggie gets #321!!

Tuesday, April 18, 2006, 02:29 AM EST [General]

Watched the game tonight (of course). Doggie was really in top form: it's still funny to see him cursing himself out for making little mistakes considering that he's already commanding on the mound. Hell, he even busted his butt running around the bases! I'm horribly biased, but I think he's just the sweetest thing... :-)

Todd Walker deserves some props as well. I thought that Dusty made a real mistake by having Walker and Hairston trade off starts at second base. Todd has certainly put in more time and effort at the position. Lately, he seems to be hitting the ball well in an attempt to give Dusty a little payback, so to speak. All the better for us!

It always amazes me, when we go to L.A., how few people are in the stands... and they're all bundled up at 64 degrees! Makes me really miss watching Alyssa Milano chowing down in the stands!
