    More tears, more fears...

Monday, May 1, 2006, 01:08 AM EST [General]

What can I say? Another really bad game, and this time, Zambrano couldn't even hold on with his teeth. What the hell has happened to our pitching staff? If you have an opinion regarding what the problem is (beyond Wood and Prior out and neglecting to get a new starter in the off-season), please let me know.

With Zambrano, I'm at a complete loss. We went into this season with the reporters touting him as our "ace pitcher". That title has now been given to Mad Dog (rightly so) and Zman has gone from bad to worse in his starts. I'd like to say the issue is that Zman simply gets too emotional (I know that some Cubs fans love that about him, but really, when one gets so emotional that it's a detriment to their playing, it's no longer a good thing) but I think it's more than that.

It's kind of like the rest of the team isn't secure behind any pitcher besides Maddux. That doesn't bode well for the rest of the season... granted, it's still very early...

    What the HELL happened today?!

Cubs Lay Down for Blow-out Loss in Hopes of Making Maddux Look Even Better

Okay, it's not an actual headline, but considering that no one in the organization seems to know what happened today, it's as good as any other. I have to admit that I couldn't watch anymore once the Brewers had 10 runs on us. Rusch was beyond horrible (I only expected horrible) and it just got worse from there. At this rate, the Cubs are going to have the pitcher with the best ERA (Mad DogSmiley) AND the pitcher with the worst ERA (RuschSmiley). I don't know whether to laugh or cry... maybe both...

Here's the deal: first of all, Carlos Zambrano has GOT to buckle down. Whatever he needs to do in order to get back into the zone, he should do it.  Second, it's time to ask some hard questions about exactly why Jim Hendry got an extension when he has neglected to do anything about the same problem we've had for two years: lack of starting pitchers. You can't tell me that he actually thought we'd have Prior and Wood, healthy, all season! If he did, I'd have to smack himSmiley, really, really hard!

Ackkkkkk! Okay, breathe, breathe... think of how toned Doggie's butt looks this year...Smiley

How hot is my Mad Dog?!

Doggie's now at 5-0... I mean, I'm speechless... I can't really think of any decent baseball statements at the moment, I'm just overcome by how incredible he is! He's a beauty, I fucking love him...

I'm so, SO proud of Doggie for showing everyone just what an "old man" can do.

Big congrats, Maddy! God damn, do I LOVE YOU!!

**Disclaimer: I apologize for all of the gushing, I'm just so damned stoked right now!!**

Doggie pulled a fast one on me...!

Friday, April 28, 2006, 12:17 AM EST [General]

... Okay, not really: but he did switch his start day. Cubs.com originally had him listed as starting on Saturday, but he's starting tomorrow, which is Friday. There are actually tickets available for the game, but I sprained my knee joint on Tuesday and can't do the walking (don't worry, Doggie-baby, I WILL get to at least one of your games this year! Look for the crazy girl flashing you while you're on the mound, you'll know it's me when they cart me away to "Wrigley Jail"  Smiley).

I can't wait to see what Greggy does tomorrow, and it'll be nice to see Big Brother Mike Maddux in the opposite dugout (wonder how much he'll tease Greg? Smiley)

    Good luck, Doggie!

    Go boys, go!!

What can I say, I'm proud of my Cubbies! Matt Murton is as hot as his ginger-red hair! I'm so glad that we have him. Big props to Todd Walker, yet again, for coming through as well (it can't be easy to do the splits in order to catch a ball and be touching the bag at the same time, especially for a guy! Okay, he didn't actually do the splits, but it was damn close!).

It was mega-cold at the field tonight, too, just a tiny bit above 40 degrees. The majority of the players were so bundled up, what with their face masks and all, that they looked like carjackers. I couldn't make up my mind if they looked funny or scary... and the umps, oh my goodness, they looked like big black blimps, they were so bundled up.

I hope that Doggie kept warm: I would have gone down to Wrigley with a nice, cozy blanket for two, but somehow I have a feeling that the umps and players would feel that all of the laughter coming from underneath it would be distracting... okay, so I have mini-fantasies about Greg... what do you want?!
