Please, Doggie... with Sugar and ANYTHING Else You Want... *Wink-wink*

Sunday, May 7, 2006, 10:05 PM EST [General]

The Cubs are in one mother of a slump... They actually woke up a bit and mounted a small amount of offense in the game today.

Doggie starts Monday night's game... he'll be bringing it, so the rest of the team had better give him his run support. I'm trying my damndest to forgive and forget the losses that the team has suffered, but if it all comes back to bite Maddy in the ass (which is my job, btw, in a sweet, sexy manner...) I will not be a happy person. Greggy suffered enough from a lack of run support last year!

    All I can say is...

Go Doggie, Doggie, go Doggie, Doggie, go!!!

I'm trying to remember that I love this team!

    They're really testing me...

I'm not feeling too secure about Zambrano starting tonight... I don't know if he can pull a decent start out...

The Cubs have got to get themselves turned around or it's all going to be over...

    A Pox on the Diamondbacks!!!

Thursday, May 4, 2006, 12:00 AM EST [General]

I'm still a bit stunned... I've never really understood how the Diamondbacks could have Greg's number every single time that he encounters them. Frankly, and whether or not you guys out there like it or not, it seems almost... unholy to me. That's right, I said it, and yeah, it's a joke, but you have to admit that it's pretty damn bizarre. Of all the teams to have such a record hitting against Doggie; I mean, who the hell would think it would be the Diamondbacks?!

Losses happen... I'll get over it, and Greg will go on to kick ass for the rest of the season. It's just beyond annoying, and I'm sure that it's even worse for my Mad Dog. (I usually see him swear to himself a few times in a game, but tonight, not only did he run through all of the swears I'm familiar with, but I think that Greggy may have actually created some new ones... Wish I could have heard them, as I bet that they were awful interesting! ;-)

On a funny note, did anyone else see Big Brother Mike talking about Doggie before the game? It was cute, and totally Mikey... when asked if he had said anything to Doggie about his performance last year, Mike responded, "Oh yeah. I told him that he was starting to look like an old man out there with a pot belly. I told him that I was expecting him to show up on Letterman eating a big bucket of fried chicken..." You know, with a brother like that, who needs enemies? (I'm SO kidding! Mikey just likes to give his brother a hard time, and it's cute!)

However, when I go to Milwaukee to catch a Cubs/Brewers game this year, I'm going to bring Mikey a big bucket of chicken and tell him to leave my Maddy alone!! :-)

    Doggie save us!!

Tuesday, May 2, 2006, 06:54 PM EST [General]

What the HELL was that today?! Granted, Duke put in an incredible game for the Pirates, but still... I'm really losing patience with a lot of the Cubs.

Doggie, on the other hand, has been named NL pitcher of the month... Somehow, it doesn't seem to be enough of a laurel for all that he has accomplished in this first month. On top of all of this, we're all hoping that Doggie will get another win tomorrow. He has become a shining beacon for our club in the midst of darkness. (Okay, I'm heavy on the metaphors at the moment...).

Good luck tomorrow night, Doggie! You know I'll be sending you as many good thoughts as I can!

    Marshall Has a Strong Showing

Monday, May 1, 2006, 09:00 PM EST [General]

I have to say, Sean Marshall has been a shot in the arm for this team, especially considering how new he is to the game. Now, if we could just get Carlos to calm down... Wonderful to see Marshall go eight innings as well, we needed the innings.

Ronny Cedeno continues to amaze me. He's such a young guy who's really learning as he goes, but he has pulled out some major plays.

I hope that the fans don't start railing on Jones for his base-running error: it happens, and is no where near as bad as what Moises Alou used to do.

I loved seeing Doggie on the bench next to Rusch (thank goodness they took Rusch off the starting rotation!). You could see Doggie tracking the game play with his eyes, looking all intense... what a cutie!!
