Ever hear a story of a sports hero and wonder if the older person telling the story is stretching the truth some? Some stories are meant to be told without pictures and even some imagination.  But in this day of rapid transmittal of the fact and even correspondence with people who knew the sports figures of yester year there is a tool that is needed for every writer whether fiction, documentary and sports writer, the internet.

Inernet features give the sports journalist and the articles credibility and validity.

Sports stories could have pictures highlighting the statistics and the play of sports icons but without the facts and the thoughts of the people who were teammates and opponents of the sports figures sports writing  and freedom of the press would  degenerate into a pack of lies. 

An insult to the craft of creativity of any writing and sports writer is not a true knowledge of the facts.

While the stories of yester year from Grandfather are fun to listen to young people who are sports writers have a greater responsibiliy to accuracy. Unless sitting in bar and having a beer with friends when it is understood that stretching the facts about sports is part of the fun of story telling.  All  that we have left after we retire and die is our words.
