Teppo Numminen is a player with that kind of first of name that would have fit in with the zany comedy team "The Marx Brothers."  There is nothing wildly funny about Teppo Numminen, the experienced defenseman for the Buffalo Sabres.  He is consistently sacrificing his body and blocking shots.  He is smart; meaning he does not create turnovers in the neutral zone and he is always heading back to his postiion before any angles on the breakways occur.  He has played for the Phoenix Coyotes; on that team was Jeremy Roenick and Keith Tkachuk.  He has playoff experience and his leadership in the lockerroom is part of the Sabres success.

  On the powerplay he is a great passer; his vision and ability to find the open player is in the range of Nicklas Lidstrom.  His shot is just as lethal.  He has been consistent in power play goals through out the two rounds of the playoffs in 2006.  On the penalty kill Numminen will be in the passing and shooting lanes looking  for the stick check opportunity.  Another important facet to Numminens' game on the penalty kill situations; he hardly gets caught screening his goaltender.  That is very important to the special teams and even strength chemistry; if a defenseman has the reputation of getting in the way of his goalie he is not much respected if the puck is scored for a goal.  So remember this guy; Teppo Numminen.

He is not Grouchos brother.  What he is a key component to the success of the Sabres; regular and post season.
