MSU Spartans hockey has seen the coaching success of Ron Mason that has led to his being hired as Athletic Director.  Two Hobey Baker Awards one to Kip Miller and the other to Ryan Miller; who are cousins. 

  There are numerous players in the NHL that wore the green and white jersey; Rod Brind Amour, Shawn Horcoff and Anson Carter.  All coached by Ron Mason.

  Now in 2006 Rick Comley coaching the Spartans to CCHA Championship.  Drew Miller is the Captain, and Justin Abdelkader and Tim Crowder are the freshmen to watch.  Jeff Lerg is the freshman goaltender who can take the Spartans to the Frozen Four.  As the Spartans are preparing for next season there are many things that they have going right for them right now.  They have skated past the critics and the negativity with hard work ethic and great leadership. 

  Drew Miller # 27 and Captain of the team was the leading scorer during the CCHA tournament.  Drew is claimed by the Mighty Ducks of the NHL and he will provide the determination and leadership that they are looking forward to from the youthful players that are in the game today.

  Spartans Hockey is "the Yankees" of the CCHA with more success than any other team in the Confrence season and postseason.  So as the Spartans fans look forward to next year we can with smiles in anticipation of wins and further success of our players in the NHL.
