    The Superbowl Sideshow: Commercials

Monday, January 22, 2007, 09:41 AM EST [NFL]

As I am a college football fan, my taste for NFL teams is not refined.  Most of the time I root for the underdog, or something silly like, who has the most Gator players that I loved.  Regardless, the Super Bowl is something that most people watch regardless of who's playing.  Like me, I know most people who have no emotional attachment to the two teams playing, I am in it for the mega millions sideshow called COMMERCIALS.  Sure the game can be exciting.  That is if the match up is right, but this post isn't about the big match up.  Here is what people such as myself can be expecting for 2.6million dollars per 30 seconds of delightful airtime.

    1.  Budwiser:  Per usual there will be humor and then some patriotic stance that will make us cry in our Budwiser

    2.  Career Builder.com:  yes the monkeys will be back.  I always thought they were funny.  Have enough Budwiser and monkeys are always funny

    3.  Doritos:  There will be a give away.  I can garantee it wont be 2.6 million dollars

    4.  GoDaddy:  Will it be Danica Patrick or will it be the other girl?  Danica is a maybe.

    5.  Nationwide:  Aren't we all excited for this one? I know I haven't had enough K-Fed.

    6. JP:  Now this could be fun.  This guy is trying to get donations from companies so that he can cough up the 2.6 mill and propose to his girlfrind on National TV.  Let's hope she says yes!

    7.  Various car commercials:  They will all suck.

Then the big schebang.  A G rated performance from the former NC17 rated Prince at half-time.  This sponsored by the ever selective Pepsi.  Maybe I will stick around and not take a potty break like the boring Macartney performance of last year.

So I bid you good watching and good luck to what ever team you want to win.  I'm torn.  The former Gator Rex or the Suicide watch Peyton.  I guess I'll root for the MONKEYS!

The Big Cheese: Always at your party.

Monday, January 8, 2007, 01:41 PM EST [Other]

While commenting on lisa4usc's blog I noticed a big factor to tonight's upcoming National Championship.  I am bringing cheese dip to the party.  This isn't an isolated incident either.  While thinking back on all of the football parties, as well as other sports parties, I have always brought some sort of cheese like dip.  The scary part is that I am not the only one!  Is it engrained in the sports fan's psyche that cheese is a perfect accompanyment to beer and sports?  I kid you not!  Is the whole state of Wisconsin planting subliminal messages along with our Super Bowl commercials.  Let's take a brief  trek through the typical party menu:

    Nachos (with cheese sauce)

    Velveeta salsa Dip

    Velveeta chili Dip

    Any variations of aformentioned dips

    Cheese Tray

    Cheese puffs (crunchy included)

Doritos or any other style of nacho chip thrown through a seasoning tumbler

I know I have left out some other powerful players  in this cheesey food dynasty.  Please feel free to add your own and please try to answer why cheese and beer are the two party guests that always arrive weither you invite them or not!

P.S. I am sorry to all who are offended by my catagorizing Velveeta as a cheese.

It's really a Man..Man: Thoughts on Report: Indian runner fails gender test

Monday, December 18, 2006, 02:52 PM EST [Track]

A response to Report: Indian runner fails gender test

Well it seems that the U.S. can now say that it didn't think of this one.  Sure we have bikers who produce extra testosterone, and female sprinters that have more facial hair than men, but none have ever posed as females and been men.  That honor now belongs to India!  Coaches say all the time.."I had no knowledge that t hey were injecting banned substances"  now we have a coache who didn't even know the athelete he was training wasn't even the right gender!  Reports say that the were curious because she didn't quite look female, but let her compete anyway.  Jeepers!   It's PAT no it's CHRIS.. this one made me giggle!

Thoughts on Cavalcade of Whimsy: Why Florida can win

Wednesday, December 13, 2006, 02:07 PM EST [General]

A response to Cavalcade of Whimsy: Why Florida can win

Thank you very much for the reference to Florida being treated as a second rate team.  You are right ! People are treating this game as if it will be the blow out of the season.  I don't think Ohio has played a team even close to the likeness of Florida.  #1 because Florida  doen't play "Stylish" football does not mean that they can't ....I hate to reference it....."Bring It!"  As I have stated before, it will be slightly scrappy and really not very text book , but Florda will play hard and FAST.  #2 Yes, the Gators are fast.  #3  Because Leak did not win the Heisman, it doesn't make him an armchair quarterback.  Watch out Nay Sayers  you could be eating your words.  #4 Facts people... the two teams are closely matched,  well except for the field goals.  Let's hope he's practiced centering his CHI.

What school has the most turned PRO?

Tuesday, December 12, 2006, 02:05 PM EST [NCAA FB]

Seeing that it is college football time and already there are players considering the NFL, does anyone know what college has turned out the most PROs?  It is something that I have always wondered about.  If I had to guess I would guess USC.  So all of you overly knowledged sports writers/ bloggers, any answers?  Thanks in advance.
