Premier League Recap and Pato Debut!!!!!!!!

    Monday, January 14, 2008, 12:07 PM EST [Serie A]

The weekend Premier League action saw some very impressive performances by clubs in the relegation battle. Sunderland gave probably their best display of the year in beating Pompey at the Stadium of Light. The win was not enough to pull Keano's side out of the bottom three as Wigan also got an important win at Derby. The loss for Paul Jewell and his side means that they are almost certainly down and now it is a case of which two teams will join them. Birmingham puled off an impressive result in tying with Arsenal at the Emirates while Boro can count themselves unlucky to not pick up all three points against Liverpool. Bolton were also dragged back into the mix with a late home loss to Blackburn and Megson's side will have to replace Anelka fast if they are to keep their heads above water.               At the top end of the table Everton gt a huge win over Man City to show again why i feel David Moyes has to be Manager of the Year. Liverpool and Arsenal stuttered but Chelsea won again and continue to hover just below the top two. Don't rule the Blues out just yet.             Last but not least, Manchester United showed that any potential new Newcastle manager will have his work cut out with this awful squad as they dismantled the Geordies 6-0!!!!!!   Come on Newcastle players. At least show some pride and i don't mean like that idiot Alan Smith getting sent of for arguing about the sixth goal.
The Serie A returned this weekend with the usual win for Inter Milan. Roma also won to keep pace at the top but Juve dropped points at Catania to end their Scudetto hopes.        The big news in Italian action this week was the long awaited debut of Brazilian youngster Pato, and boy was he worth the wait. The youngster linked with fellow Brazilians Kaka and Ronaldo to mesmerizing effect. I got goosebumps when Pato scored the fifth goal because i knew that i had witnessed the first goal of what is going to be a spectacular career. The Serie A has had to deal with a lot of problems over the last few years but this youngster can put the Serie A back where it belongs.
