Big Sam has finally got the chop at Newcastle, and while i don't agree with the decision, i am not surprised by the timing. I am sure it will come out in the next few weeks why Sam got the boot during the transfer window, but i am sure the reason was that owner Mike Ashley wasn't 100% behind the transfer moves that Allardyce wanted to make. Looking at it from Ashley's perspective he can't have felt too comfortable forking out on more players when His manager's first set of signings have hardly set the world alight. When this happens there is no meeting point halfway, it is up to the owner to fully back the coach or sever al ties, with the owner choosing the latter.
I know football has changed a lot over the my lifetime but can you imagine where Man Utd would be had their board ben so quick to fire Alex Ferguson when his first set of signings such as Neil Webb, and Mickey Phelan failed to impress. United's loyalty has ben rewarded with countless trophies since but i feel like the days of manager's been giving time to build a team are well and truly gone.
The fact of the matter is that no matter what anyone thinks, it is Mike Ashley's club and his money, and if he feels like a change is needed then he doesn't have to justify that to anyone. I just hope that he gives the next manager time to turn around the mess that is Newcastle United
