    The Fallout...

Saturday, December 15, 2007, 10:27 PM EST [Thoughts on The Mitchell Repor]

I apologize for this not being posted Thursday, however it was written following the Mitchell Report...

    The Fallout

Roger Clemens accused of taking steroids and then denying it. Is anyone truly surprised? I realize one is innocent until proven guilty, however I will say that the report does have some pretty damning evidence. Sure people will say that Brian McNamee had ulterior motives, but just like the evidence against Barry Bonds, it looks and smells as if Clemens is guilty. So with that said, I believe Clemens, and the other players who were accused with strong evidence against their case, should quickly come clean and limit the damage. The faster you act and tell the truth, the quicker the public will forgive you, and the quicker the story will die.

Besides this, I really do not feel as if the news of the Report will have much impact on the game itself. Many are calling this a catastrophic day for baseball, however I believe those people are trying to create a new story as opposed to realizing that people have known all along the sport was "dirty," and the problem was widespread. Frankly, people were looking for confirmation of what they have believed for years, and I believe many fans will be upset that more names were not mentioned. Now the second-guessing of who did what will continue...
