Craig Conroy & the Calgary Flames

Friday, February 2, 2007, 09:31 AM EST [NHL]

Josh Q. Public:  Well the names have all changed since you hung around, but those dreams have remained and they're turned around.  Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.  -The Sweat Hogs

Public Service Announcement:  OK, here we go!  Just a little quicke today.  Not a New York Knickie today.  It's a Koho hockey stickie today.  You want to know how little I care about the Super Bowl?  Huh?  Do ya?  I'm writing about the Calgary Flames.  That's how little.  Heck, to be honest, I'd rather write about the Calgary Stampeders.  The Hitmen.  The Roughnecks.  Any one of 'em.  But the Flames are actually doing some things.  The Flames are actually getting stuff done.  The Flames are taking care of business.  Every day.  The Flames are taking care of business.   Every way.  Taking care of business and working overtime.  The Flames just got back Craig Conroy.

You know Craig Conroy.  Born in the USA.   A long gone Daddy in the USA.   A cool rocking Daddy in the USA.   One of the best two way forwards in the USA.  In the world.  This cat plays defense.  Like my main man Barry Melrose always says, this cat plays Oh-ffense.  Once Captain Calgary.  Last seen in these parts in 2004.   Last seen in these parts in the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals.  Last seen in these parts scoring a goal in a heartbreaking 2-1 game seven loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.  Left town for the money, honey.  He had his mind on the money, and the money on his mind.  A lot of money.  Well, he's baaaack.  Once again back is the incredible, first line animal.  And not a  moment too soon.  He scored twice the other night against the Kings.   Scored twice in his first game with his new club.  Scored twice, leading the Calgary Flames to a 4-1 win.  Oh, it gets better.  RW Jarome Iginla, Iggy, the Big Tree, looks ready to return.  C Daymond Langkow appears fit for duty, fit as a fiddle.   We know C Craig Conroy is back.  Back in black.  That makes the Flames top two lines:  Tanguay-Conroy-Iginla and Huselius-Langkow-Moss.  Add Phaneuf back at the blue line.  Back at the blue line with 33 points and a +18.  Back at the blue line mixing it up.  Kiprusoff between the pipes.  Kiprusoff between the pipes in the top five in every goaltending category.  Goodness gracious.  Stanley Cup anyone?

Peace out homies.  Six two and even!
