NFC NORTH Applaud FAVRE signing with VIKINGS

Tuesday, August 18, 2009, 09:19 PM EST [NFL]

Well its pretty safe to say that the Detroit Lions will be improved this season ('09), even if they win 1 game that's 1 more than last season but the remaining teams (Chicago Bears/Green Bay Packers n particular) in the NFC North, as of tonight, have legitimate reasons to believe their chances of winning the Division and possibly getting a BYE in the first round of playoffs have increased since the 'shady of all shady' professional sports players in recent memory BRETT FAVRE has finally committed to playing for the Minnesota Vikings

I'm not ready to forget or dismiss the show Favre put on last season ('08) with the N.Y. Jets, he faded during the last 8 games, and with that image still blazed within my mind I'm certain he will put on the same type of performance this year for the Vikings. Matter of fact it might be a worsened performance because he's just off recent shoulder surgery and he's even n less shape then he was when he went to Jets camp last year (and that's saying a lot considering he came into N.Y.'s camp really out of shape, lazy attitude/motivation and wasn't interested in getting to know his new teammates at any point during that year). The Bears and Packers by week 12 of the season should be in a 2 way battle for the division crown while the Vikings will be scrambling to come up with 'bail-out' excuses for the poor play B.Favre (I anticipate 18 to 20 interceptions for the man who currently holds the NFL QB record for the most interceptions) Favre has had one great season out of the last 5 and that season was his last season ('07) in Green Bay; unfortunately Brett was also the reason the Packers never made it to the Super Bowl that year (throwing a costly interception in overtime against the G-Men). During is on again and off again retirement tenure Favre has been a average QB on the field and it continues to confuse me why teams fall for his annual offseason bull*hit! He's a diva and pouting cry-baby who no longer has what it takes to be an elite QB in this league and unfortunately the Viking organization and its fan we'll see first hand what the Jet fanz saw last year...shock-awe-disappointment. Brett can no longer hold up physically for 16 games (even with his clever dodging of Viking training camp and the first 2 games of preseason) his arm and his mental toughness will be questioned once the temperature in the midwest drops to 15 degrees and he has to visit Soldier Field and take on the harsh elements of Mother Nature

I'm going to say it because no body on tv, radio or your neighborhood friendly Blog has the nerve to say it...FAVRE WILL ENGINEER THE VIKINGS OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS...while at the same time setting the Viking organization back 5 years as it relates to developing a Young up and coming fresh Franchise Quarterback I'm interested in seeing what type of reception Favre receives when he visits Lambeau Field for the first time wearing the Purple Jersey of the hated long-time division rival Minnesota Vikings. He will need a police escort in and out of that city and stadium, and it won't be because the Packer fans want to congratulate him on a stellar career it will be because they want to kick his AZZ!

Michael Vick can be forgiven Off the field but On the field he can not

Saturday, August 15, 2009, 08:20 PM EST [NFL]

Now that the shock and awe is almost over for the Michael Vick Experience lets get down to the real reason why most people should be in a Uproar over Vick and his re-instatement to the NFL. It has nothing to do with his crimes against animals, his jail sentence or if he's truly remorseful for his life-long activity involving dog-fighthing; at the end of the day you must give Vick his forgiven due and let him move on and live his life like any other convicted felon that has served his time and is now re-acclimating his/her self back into society. The bigger issue is will we forgive Vick for what he did on the field prior to being suspended by Commissioner Goodell? I say no  because he still is what we thought he was before, a player with great athleticism but average quarterback skills

Journalist, bloggers and fans have fallen victim to the common theory 'out of sight, out of mind' and that's understandable but it's time for reality to bite and remind us the type of player Vick used to be since his inception into the NFL back in 2001. Most fans of the pigskin think Vick will play receiver and running back now that he's back in the NFL, it is highly unlikely he will consistently play that position--just because he was a elusive runner as a QB that doesn't mean he can make that transition to playing that position exclusively--if u remember 5 years ago during the preseason Vick tried being a running back, when he was flushed from the qb pocket, and as he was running down the middle of a field a defensive linemen blindsided him and tackled him while also breaking his ankle. A player who has running back or receiver instincts would know how to handle himself in the open field, Vick doesn't because he's never had to do that, he's a QB and if he has any value in the NFL the rest of his career it will be from 'behind center' playing Quarterback. But that's where the problem surfaces.....

Michael Vick was a very Average QB prior to his suspension and I don't see how that's going to change now that's he's back; if anything he's going to be worse than he was before--considering he's not in football shape and he never had a chance to stay current on the how the NFL has changed during hit time away. He wasn't very accurate as a QB, reading defenses wasn't a strength, more times than not he took off and ran when he should of been more patient in the pocket and he's not a very big QB either (he's smaller than Drew Brees, which is saying a lot because Drew stands 6'3 on a good day). Vick is now a Eagle but I don't see him being any more than a glorified backup in the NFL from here on out, fans are excited but there excited off his previous potential which isn't a whole lot if you really break it down; the first season of his suspension ('07) there were rumors that his starting job was going to be in jeopardy if he didn't get the Falcons deep into the playoffs. So its funny to me how Vick has transformed into this QB savior that every team would be blessed to have. I don't think so, the so called vaunted 'wild cat' offense that Vick will apparently be running worked a bit last year but that was last year, NFL defenses adjust quickly from year to year and I would be shocked if any team in the whole league scored a TD from that formation.  It's nice to see a man get a second chance in life but in the NFL a second chance is no guarantee of success!

Are u ready for some football? I AM!!!

Monday, July 13, 2009, 01:03 AM EST [NFL]

DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! I know it's only early July ('09) but I can't take it any more, I need my pro football fix (American not European)....I don't have the NFL network to quinch my forever needing off-season thirst so days like today and the past 2 weeks I have to go through NFL withdrawal by scouring the internet at 3am n the morning reading any and everything I can find on the NFL while holding a bottle of Jack Daniel...some body help me! How far away are we from training camp, pre-season, something where some player is running a post-pattern or getting viciously hit by an opposing d-back? I need a fix and I need it bad....

    A Modern Day Kordell Stewart?

Monday, October 29, 2007, 01:42 PM EST [NFL]

Is it me or does Jacksonville's QB David Garrard strength and weaknesses as a quarterback remind you of former NFL QB Kordell Stewart?
