At some point in the near future, maybe this year if we're lucky, Tiger Woods will complete the official Grand Slam by winning all 4 major tournaments in 1 calendar year. And if there's anybody golfer on this depleted tortured earth that can do it, it's Tiger and no-one else. But that leads me to my next 'Grand' that I would like to see Tiger do, and that's the Grand Stand; and not do it for just one year but do it for the duration of his life.
The Grand Stand requires Tiger Woods to stand up and speak out on social issues that might seem 'matter of fact' to an athlete that's worth hundreds of millions of dollars but to the rest of the mostly middle/class world it's rather important; even if those same hard-working people choose to look the other way when such topics are occasionally brought up. It's time to for a person like Tiger Woods and other high profile reluctantly chaps, i.e. Michael Jordan, to look at the camera and say what's on their mind; not what u think your many sponsors might expect you to say.
Race, Politics, Poverty, War are some of the hard-line topics that are in heavy rotation each and every year around the world and I find it a Responsibility, not a Requirement like most pundits are saying Tiger should feel, for Mr. Woods to speak on the ills of Racial Insensitvity and let the chips fall as they may. There are ways to say things P.C. and get your point across without sounding like MR. MILITANT
Tiger Woods condemning Kelly Tilhoman, anchor of the Golf Channel, for her horrible 'lynching' statement earlier this month was not the real issue, she made a terrible mistake and she was suspended for it (and if Tiger felt like she crossed the line as a Friend, then he could settle that behind closed doors) but what was said after the incident occured told me more about Tiger as a Leader. For several days we heard nothing so that's how I'll leave this blog...............................................
