Does anyone remember the last time a team called a press conference to announce the firing of an assistant general manager? I love that the Mets have turned into such a circus. They remind me of the Yankees of the late 1970s, only they don't fire managers as often and don't have nearly as many interesting personalities. Also, they stink. Who's off: Nobody First pitch: The AL has a pair of games at 7:05 p.m. ET, while the NL has three games five minutes later. Here's the full schedule. Pitcher to start: Serves me right for picking Craig Stammen - we're 59-65 on the season. Tonight's choice is Clay Buchholz (10 percent owned), since he's matched up against the punchless A's. He's going to feel like he's back in Pawtucket. On to the news:

The All-Star Game starters have been announced, and the Pedroia-over-Kinsler vote looks to be the biggest screw-up. Also, if someone had told me before the season that Tim Wakefield would be an All-Star ... Who's off: Rays, Twins, White Sox, Indians, Mets, Cardinals, Brewers, Dodgers First pitch: The Jays and Yankees play an AL matinee at 1:05 p.m. ET, while the NL has a pair of 7:05 starts. Here's the full schedule. Pitcher to start: The weekend was solid, with Max Scherzer posting a decent effort Friday, John Lannan and Luke Hochevar giving us a Saturday split, and the underrated Nick Blackburn continuing his terrific pitching on Sunday.
