This week's blog schedule: Today: baseball; Tuesday: off; Wednesday/Thursday: football; Friday: baseball That was certainly an enjoyable weekend. The Yankees swept the Red Sox, and David Ortiz essentially used the blame-GNC defense regarding his positive PED test in 2003. Thought to ponder: Ortiz is a bigger phony than Alex Rodriguez, who at least fessed up to something when he got caught. Who's off: Royals, Twins, Indians, Rangers, Phillies, Nationals, Braves, Brewers, Pirates, Padres First pitch: We've got a pair of AL games at 7:05 p.m. ET, and Astros-Marlins in the NL at 7:10. The All-Star Game starters have been announced, and the Pedroia-over-Kinsler vote looks to be the biggest screw-up. Also, if someone had told me before the season that Tim Wakefield would be an All-Star ... Who's off: Rays, Twins, White Sox, Indians, Mets, Cardinals, Brewers, Dodgers First pitch: The Jays and Yankees play an AL matinee at 1:05 p.m. ET, while the NL has a pair of 7:05 starts. Here's the full schedule. Pitcher to start: The weekend was solid, with Max Scherzer posting a decent effort Friday, John Lannan and Luke Hochevar giving us a Saturday split, and the underrated Nick Blackburn continuing his terrific pitching on Sunday.
