If you drafted Broncos WR Eddie Royal, did you play him last night when he had TDs on both punt and kickoff returns? Sorry, I didn't mean "Broncos WR Eddie Royal" - I meant "WR Eddie Royal of the 6-0 Broncos." Holy $#@!
On to the news:
- Multiple Bay Area reports indicate that WR Michael Crabtree will start his first game for the 49ers on Sunday, and WR Josh Morgan told the Santa Rosa Press Democrat that Crabtree would be taking his spot this week. Crabtree has impressed the 49ers since signing his contract, and he could be ready to make a quicker impact that we all expected. He's owned in 54 percent of FOXSports.com leagues, and is absolutely worth a pickup if you can get him.
- In other 49ers news, remember that RB Frank Gore is expected to return this week. He's been out since suffering an ankle strain in Week 3.
- No updates yet on Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin, who sprained his ankle on Sunday. I'd say that you have to think about Plan B if you own Boldin, but you knew that would always be part of the plan when you drafted him.
- Shockingly, the Patriots aren't giving up any information yet on Sammy Morris' knee injury. I think he either ran a marathon yesterday or got his leg amputated. Blame Bill Belichick for my wild speculation.
- Raiders RB Darren McFadden has been ruled out for Week 7, so you'll have to wait at least another week for him to resume underachieving. The Justin Fargas/Michael Bush tandem gets another shot. The carry disparity between Fargas and Bush was apparently due to a head injury that Bush suffered early in the game, so even though I'm optimistic about Fargas, I'm a little less so than I was yesterday.
- Also, WR Chaz Schilens is expected to play for the first time since breaking his foot in the preseason. Not that I'd ever get too excited about a Raider receiver, but Schilens could be kinda sorta OK.
- Rams WR Donnie Avery is day-to-day with a hip injury.
- The Vikings don't seem too worried about Percy Harvin's shoulder, which was re-injured on Sunday.
- Nothing new on Trent Edwards' concussion. If you're looking for a defense this week, give the Panthers a try in the event that the Bills need to start backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.
- Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez probably won't be back this week. He sprained some knee ligaments in the season opener.
- Here's a good article on Texans RB Steve Slaton, who hasn't been running the ball too well, but is making up for it by catching the ball more often. He's still getting plenty of touches.
- Giants WR Mario Manningham suffered what appears to be a minor back injury on Sunday. More news later in the week, but he should be fine.
- Cowboys RB Felix Jones was back at practice Monday for the first time since injuring a knee ligament a few weeks ago. Jones had a knee brace on, so I wouldn't move him to a fantasy starting lineup until I knew he'd be playing. Stay tuned.
- Don't forget your byes this week. The Ravens, Broncos, Lions, Jaguars, Seahawks and Titans are all off. Also, the Patriots and Bucs play in London, so while the Bucs are technically listed as the home team, they're really not.
