Redskins head coach Jim Zorn apparently isn't going to get fired today, but he will give up the team's playcalling duties. They play the Eagles at home next Monday night, so we'll all get to see what happens when this plan doesn't work, either.
On to the news:
- And you thought RB Sammy Morris was finally going to show his stuff for the Patriots. After Morris left Sunday's game in the first quarter with a leg injury, Laurence Maroney went off, carrying 16 times for 123 yards and a touchdown. The Pats didn't offer any updates on Morris' condition after the game, so we'll need to keep an eye on his condition during the week. As for Maroney, he's owned in just 42 percent of FOXSports.com leagues, and is an obvious free-agent target this week. I feel like we've seen this all before, though, and it always ends badly.
- Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin didn't play much in the second half Sunday after spraining his ankle. We should know more about his condition today or tomorrow.
- You want to take a flier on a backup QB - maybe if he can be the third one on your roster? Try Vince Young, who replaced Kerry Collins in the second half of the Titans' blowout loss to the Pats. The Titans have a bye in Week 7, and they haven't said anything about Collins' benching being permanent. But at 0-6, they might be willing to shake things up. Maybe VY will offer his long-awaited running value if he starts playing. Don't risk your season on this suggestion or anything.
- In other Titans' news, RB LenDale White left the game with a knee injury and didn't return. More news later in the week.
- If you own Bears RB Matt Forte, I hope you weren't watching last night when he fumbled on two consecutive goal-line carries. Actually, forget you ever read that last sentence.
- Forgot something in the note above about the Redskins: QB Jason Campbell got benched at halftime in favor of Todd Collins. No word on who's starting in Week 7.
- Here's the running breakdown from the Raiders' big win over the Eagles: Justin Fargas, 23 carries for 87 yards; Michael Bush, six carries for 22 yards. Also, head coach Tom Cable seems to really like Fargas. I like him, too - he helped my fantasy teams in both 2007 and 2008 - but he is still a Raider. He's available in 76 percent of FOXSports.com
- The Raiders' next opponent, the Jets, might have lost NT Kris Jenkins for the season with a knee injury.
- Question for Curb Your Enthusiasm fans: Has Larry David lost a few mph off his fastball? I've been disappointed for two weeks in a row. Chopsticks? Really?
- Bills QB Trent Edwards left Sunday's game with a concussion. More news over the next few days.
- Vikings WR Percy Harvin re-injured his shoulder late in Sunday's win over the Ravens. Fortunately, teammate Sidney Rice spent the game thinking he was Jerry Rice, catching six passes for 176 yards.
- Falcons RB Jerious Norwood was having another good game Sunday night before leaving with a hip flexor injury. As with all the other injuries from yesterday, more news will be coming as the week progresses.
- Giants WR Mario Manningham left Sunday's game with an undisclosed injury. Stay tuned.
- And the Lions' new quarterback is ... Drew Stanton? Daunte Culpepper hurt his hamstring Sunday, so Stanton came in and delivered an uninspiring performance. The Lions have a bye in Week 7, so don't even think about them for a few days (if at all).
- Steve Smith is unhappy with the Panthers for not using him enough. Does that mean we should look for some sulking or an explosion in Week 7? I'd say the latter if I thought Jake Delhomme was capable of helping Smith deliver it.
- Bengals DE Antwan Odom is done for the season with a torn Achilles. I don't generally play in IDP leagues, but losing the NFL's co-sack leader seems like it would be a problem. Same goes for Seahawks MLB Lofa Tatupu, who's finished for 2009 due to a torn pectoral muscle.
- Texans RB Steve Slaton had a big fantasy day yesterday, but he was pretty crummy rushing the ball again (19 carries, 43 yards).
- Here's the Denver Post scouting report on tonight's Broncos-Chargers game, in which RB Correll Buckhalter is expected to return. I need a big night from my new favorite player, Knowshon Moreno.
See you tomorrow.
