If you're having a bad day, keep in mind that it could be worse. You could be Cardinals OF Matt Holliday, who dropped the last out of last night's NLCS game against the Dodgers. Is "Bucknerian" a word?
As always, here's how to get some lineup help on Sunday morning:
- Listen to Fantasy Freaks Mike Harmon, Nate Lundy and Peter Burns from 10 a.m. until noon ET on foxsportsradio.com or XM 142, and tweet them your questions at @fantasyfreaks.
- Chat with Roger Rotter right here at FOXSports.com from 11-1 ET.
- Tweet me your questions at @jhalpin37, or e-mail me at jhalpin37@gmail.com.
Also, let's make sure not to forget our byes. The Bears, Packers, Saints and Chargers are off this week.
On to the news:
- Giants QB Eli Manning missed practice again Thursday, and his status might be a gametime decision. Once again, as a Giants fan and Charlotte resident who watched David Carr play for the Panthers in 2007, I can't properly convey how petrified I'd be if he had to play Sunday against a team that wasn't the Raiders. By noon Sunday, you'll know Manning's status.
- I own Drew Brees and Manning in a league, and needed to pick up someone to be safe. Derek Anderson is owned in just five percent of FOXSports.com leagues, and I doubt you can do better from the free-agent wire.
- Patriots RB Fred Taylor had ankle surgery Thursday that might keep him out for the rest of the season. The Pats' RB gaggle is down to Kevin Faulk, Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris and possibly BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Now that the group is down to a more manageable size, I might take a shot at Morris (owned in 7.5 percent of leagues) if I needed a running back.
- Browns head coach Eric Mangini thinks that RB Jamal Lewis has a good chance to play this week. I'm curious to see the workload split between Lewis and Jerome Harrison.
- Steelers RB Willie Parker missed practice again Thursday, and looks like a no-go for Sunday's game against the Lions. Bench him unless you hear good news, and even then he might share more carries with Rashard Mendenhall than you'd like.
- It looks like QB Matt H****elbeck will return for the Seahawks this week.
- WR Miles Austin could get more playing time for the Cowboys this week if Roy Williams can't play, and Williams missed practice again Thursday because of his rib injury.
- This Detroit Free Press story says that Daunte Culpepper "appears likely" to start at QB for the Lions this week in place of the injured Matthew Stafford (knee). If you're curious, Culpepper started five games for the Lions last year, completing 52.2 percent of his p****es for 786 yards, four TDs and six interceptions. Ugh.
- You knew this already, but Broncos RB Correll Buckhalter will almost certainly miss this week's head coach hoodie battle with a sprained ankle.
- In Ravens' news, WR Derrick Mason practiced Thursday after resting Wednesday with a neck injury, and RB Le'Ron McClain might get the ball in short-yardage situations again after being shut out last week. Because the Ravens don't have enough running backs to confuse fantasy owners.
- The Raiders will start Michael Bush at running back this week, but I still think Justin Farg*s will get plenty of action. Or not, if they're down 24-0 at halftime.
- Expect new 49ers WR Michael Crabtree to be activated in Week 7.
- Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo said that it's "very likely" that Kyle Boller will start again at QB in place of the injured Marc Bulger. Unfortunately, all the Rams' receivers are hurt.
- The Bucs are already backtracking on their Cadillac Williams every-down talk, with head coach Raheem Morris suggesting something like a 60-40 split between Williams and Derrick Ward. In other Bucs' news, WR Antonio Bryant was limited in Thursday's practice, and it's hard to tell if he'll play Sunday.
- Shameless plug time: Make sure to read this week's running back committee article, and check out my latest Wide Write column (with accompanying video) on FOXNews.com. Tell your friends, too.
I'll be back here on Monday, Thursday and Friday mornings next week. I need to take Tuesday off, so if you need to set your Week 6 lineup five days early, send me an e-mail. Good luck this week.
