Thank goodness the Brett Favre Bowl is finally over. Fortunately, we get to do it all over again, exponentially, when Favre and the Vikings visit Lambeau Field on November 1. To paraphrase Terrell Owens, get your Maalox ready.
On to the news:
- The Eagles expect to have both QB Donovan McNabb and RB Brian Westbrook back on the field this week, and since their opponent is the lowly Buccaneers, you probably want to get both players in your fantasy lineups. Kevin Kolb, we hardly knew ye.
- Raiders RB Darren McFadden will have knee surgery today that is expected to keep him out anywhere from 2-4 weeks, continuing one of the worst alleged fantasy breakout seasons in recent memory. If you check the stats for Sunday's game, you'll notice that the reliable Justin Fargas had 10 carries in McFadden's absence. Doesn't it seem like Fargas replaces an injured back every year and does a decent job? Huggy Bear's son is available in about 75 percent of FOXSports.com leagues, but don't expect much from him against the Giants this week.
- Speaking of the Giants, QB Eli Manning is day-to-day with a foot injury, and his status for Sunday will apparently depend on how much pain he can tolerate. I have no idea how much this will affect Manning if he plays. Let's wait for practice reports as the week progresses to see how he's doing.
- Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck is expected to practice Wednesday with an eye on returning this week against the Jaguars.
- A sprained ankle might keep Broncos RB Correll Buckhalter out of this week's game against the Patriots. Get ready for 20-25 carries, Knowshown Moreno.
- Lions QB Matthew Stafford's status for Week 5 is up in the air due to a knee injury. If Stafford can't go, and you pick up Daunte Culpepper for Sunday's game against the Steelers, I might find a way to ban you from this blog for the rest of the season.
- Contract negotiations are apparently ready to resume between WR Michael Crabtree and the 49ers. Keep an eye on this situation, because if Crabtree signs, he could certainly be worth a bench spot. It might take him awhile to get acclimated, though.
- Don't forget your byes this week. The Bears, Packers, Saints and Chargers are off. At least LaDainian Tomlinson won't be able to disappoint you again until Week 6.
- Look for Falcons RB Jerious Norwood to return this week after missing Week 3 with a concussion.
- RB Adrian Peterson will miss 2-3 weeks with a knee strain. No, not that Adrian Peterson - I mean the Bears' backup. And yes, I had the same reaction you did when I saw the headline.
- Cowboys WR Roy Williams might miss Sunday's game with some injured ribs, while RB Felix Jones is considered doubtful due to his sprained knee.
That's all for today. Now that baseball season is over, football blog entries will appear on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for the rest of the season.
I am so glad to know that D.McNabb back he deserve to be back I do not know why the man who hit McNabb was fine for a late hit. Welcome back D.McNabb we miss you
