Well, it happened. Our beloved Red Sox have lost our center fielder, and most popular player, Johnny Damon. Johnny has reportedly signed a 4 year, $52 million contract with, of all other teams - the Yankees. Not only do we lose our center fielder, but the Yankees GAIN the best leadoff hitter in the game. It will be tough to replace that talent. There does not appear to be much out there in terms of center fielders and with the Red Sox without a single GM to call their own, it will be a miracle if they make it to the playoffs next year. This is big time. This is only a report, however, and I suppose there is always the chance Johnny will come back but it is not looking good.
RIP 2006 Red Sox
Merry Christmas
