Well, now that we know Joe Paterno won't be bringing back a third national championship trophy to State College this year, another exciting storyline to the 2008 college football season has been lost - all by a single point in Iowa City last weekend.

Meanwhile, as the college football regular season begins to wind down this month, the college basketball season gets underway with our first few real games of the year coming this week in the 2K Sports Classic.

Duke, UCLA, Southern Illinois and Michigan have all advanced to next week's semifinals at Madison Square Garden, and a potential championship game on Nov. 21 under the bright New York City lights between the No. 8 Blue Devils and No. 4 Bruins could start the season off with a real barnburner.
