FLORIDA MARLINS PLAYER GRADES AFTER 25 GAMES

Monday, May 4, 2009, 03:08 PM EST [General]

Here are my grades for the Marlins through 25 games:

Amezaga (B-) Has been hurt; only .233 average, but defense has been spectacular and has had some timely hits.

Baker (A) Has really flourished as the #1 catcher.

Bonifacio (B-) Started out great, but his average (.257) and on base % (.304) are too low

Cantu (A+) Where would the Fish be without Cantu? I don't want to know.

Gload (F) Needs to show improvement or he will be released or sent to Triple-A.

Helms (C) It's tough to come off the bench to pinch hit-but that's his job and a .258 average just isn't good enough.

Hermida (C-) Low average and less power than expected. Had one really good game and that's it.

Maybin (D) Good in the field, not so much at the plate. Needs to work on the .216 average and .284 on base %.

Paulino (A) Best backup catcher in baseball. Period.

Ramirez (C-) Numbers are way down and his character has come into question with his lack of hustle.

Ross (C) Fan favorite for the Fish-not coming up with the clutch hits that made him so popular.

Uggla (C-) A .212 average just isn't going to cut it. That being said, it's hard to imagine this lineup without him in it.

    Badenhop (D-) 9.00 ERA-enough said.

    Calero (A) 2.08 ERA-has been solid.

    J. Johnson (A+) The ace of the staff and one of the best in baseball.

Lindstrom (C-) 5 saves, but an 8.00 ERA-kind of makes you miss Kevin Gregg.

Meyer (B) Hasn't been outstanding, hasn't been terrible.

    A. Miller (D-) Triple-A may just be the place for him.

    Nolasco (F) Last year's ace is 1-3 with a 7.03 ERA.

    Nunez (B) 2-0 with a 3.18 ERA-has been solid.

Penn (C-) 1-0 record with a 6.35 ERA. Sometimes it looks like he can't get anyone out.

Pinto (A) 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA. Obviously the most improved player so far this year.

    A. Sanchez (D) 1-3 with a 5.46 ERA; has struggled with consistency.

Taylor (C) Only 2 starts-first one was terrible, the other one was pretty good-he was a victim of a bullpen meltdown.

Volstad (A) 2-0 with a 2.67 ERA. He looks like he's ready to be the #2 starter.

    Jaguars new uniforms are hideous

Wednesday, April 22, 2009, 02:02 PM EST [General]

I watched a live feed today on www.jaguars.com to see the Jacksonville Jaguars' new uniforms. I was a little excited to see them. When they came out, I was shocked and horrified. The Jags had one of the better looking uniforms in the NFL until today. They changed their helmet ever so slightly and changed the look of how the lettering JAGUARS will look. I have no problem with those. However, the new jerseys are the most boring things I've ever seen. Gone is the jaguar on the sleeves. If they would just add that, then I would be happy with them. Nothing on the sleeves just makes them boring. Wayne Weaver, owner of the Jaguars says that this new look will give the Jaguars an identity. I think they will do just the opposite. If you haven't seen them yet, just go to www.jaguars.com and see for yourself.

Bad new trend in baseball parks

Monday, April 20, 2009, 12:14 PM EST [General]

It's only 2 weeks into the baseball season and I've noticed something this year that used to happen every now and then that is now happening a lot more frequently.

Fans-when an opposing team hits a home run and you are lucky enough to catch the ball, give it to a kid nearby if you don't want it! I've seen a lot more knuckleheads throw the ball back on the field (like they do at Wrigley-since they are the first to do it, I'll give them a pass) than ever before. What are you accomplishing by doing this? Do you think the home run won't count? Do you think it will hurt the player's feelings that you didn't want the ball that he crushed? Most parks will throw this person out of the ballpark (as they should). A lot of kids would love to have that ball but your dumb drunk behinds think it would be cool to just throw it on to the field. Idiots!

My NFL Predictions from May coming true!

Tuesday, November 18, 2008, 12:07 PM EST [General]

Here is the post that I made on May 13th. Some were very good-but Detroit really really really disappointed me. Check out these predictions:

    May 13, 2008

Here are 10 things that I predict will happen in the NFL this year:

    1. A quarterback not named Manning will win the Super Bowl. Hey, this is only my first one-I need a gimme to get me going.

    2. Ladainian Tomlinson will not lead the NFL in rushing. In fact, I predict a down season for LT and the Chargers. However, they have no competition from their division so they will still make the playoffs-maybe at 8-8 or 9-7.

    3. Detroit will make the playoffs. Yes-I'm going out on a limb on this one, but if there was ever a year to win their division, it's this one. With the Bears still deciding on a QB, Green Bay still adjusting to LAF (Life after Favre), and the Vikings still without a QB, the Lions are ready to win the NFC Central. Remember where you heard it!

    4. Dallas will win a playoff game for the first time since 1996. The NFL schedule makers made a horrible mistake by making the last regular season game in Texas Stadium a Saturday night game vs. the Ravens on NFL Network. So, Dallas will have to get home field advantage and say goodbye to their old digs in style.

    5. Lane Kiffin will be out as coach of the Raiders. I don't know any Raider fans personally, but they must be beside themselves having your hopes ride on Jamarcus "I never met a buffet I didn't like" Russell. Trust me-I've seen this story before (i.e. Byron Leftwich in Jacksonville).

    6. Vince Young will be replaced as starting QB in Tennessee. I think Titan fans are getting a little impatient with Vince. Look for a change around Halloween.

    7. Buffalo will be back in the playoffs for the first time since 1999. This Bills team is very underrated and I think they will challenge the Patriots for the AFC East title.

    8. There will be a tie this year. There hasn't been a tie in the NFL in many many years-I'm saying it's going to happen this year, and when it does people will be screaming for rules changes.

    9. Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson tie the knot. I predict that they will marry on the Cowboys' bye week. Tony's best man will be T.O. (who will be crying as the ceremony is taking place), and Cowboys fans will forgive the blonde beauty as the Cowboys go deep in the playoffs.

    10. Your 2008 NFL MVP is going to be .........

    BEN ROETHLISBERGER!
