Heimerdinger out...Fairchild in?
Wednesday, January 25, 2006, 06:08 PM EST
[New York Jets]
Jets offensive guru Mike Heimerdinger is gone after coming to some agreement with the Jets brass. This was bound to happen, especially after the episode following Eric Mangini's hiring. The offense, even though it was riddled with injuries, should have been a little better. Bollinger wasn't the prototype, but oh well...out with the old, in with the new.
Former Browns coach and Texans offensive coordinator Chris Palmer is one of the possibilities, along with former Rams offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild. Other names are likely to surface, but Fairchild might be a good fit to open up the passing game, but also give some focus to the run. That's why the Jets SHOULD get D'Brickshaw Ferguson, OT (Virginia) with their 1st round pick. Martin still has some years left and getting a solid lineman to replace McKenzie would be key to the Jets success.

Talking Trash went well...

[General]
Tonight was my first appearance back on the "Big show" with Mark Trombley and Jason Piche. After a quick introduction, I went into the booth and was "the Voice" from beyond afterwards. Got a shot in on Syracuse hoops, but Jason quickly reminded me about last year's loss to UVM...all was good though. Next week, I'll be co-hosting with Pich' while Mark is away.

SU: Bad loss in Pittsburgh...
Monday, January 23, 2006, 07:12 PM EST
[Syracuse Orange BB]
Syracuse looked sloppy in its 80-67 loss to Pittsburgh tonight. Not the type of loss you want after losing to UConn and Villanova. I expected a little more out of G-Mac, but Devendorf was outstanding again.
Watkins fouling out with 13:00 left in the game didn't help matters, but Gorman put up some good minutes for Cuse. I think he should see some more time going forward, especially if Mookie plans on fouling out on a regular basis.
Syracuse just needs to get a lead in the first half, and stop playing from behind each and every game. This team is tired and needs a rest. Hopefully they can get back on track with Seton Hall and Rutgers coming to the Dome.
