Thoughts to chew on.  Why does the IOC keep baseball out of the Olympics but yet a game(not a sport) like curling is allowed to take place?  In regards to baseball, I view it as an anti-American stance taken by the IOC, in that the USA would always dominate the sport and the international community won't stand for that. 

 As to the IOC allowing curling to be an event(not a sport) in the Olympics, they may also want to consider some of the following events/skills for future Olympic games.

1. Quilting(Aunt Lena would be great at this)

2. Ceramics(your Aunt Betty could qualify)

3. Whittling(Uncle Lefty might win)

4. Spitting(Tobacco and Watermelon seed divisions)

5. Hop-scotch(for the youth in all of us)

6. Checkers(Andy and Barney Rules!)

7. Darts(the local pub-ster brings home the Gold!)

8. Hide and Seek(and why not?)

9. Red Light, Green Light(where will it stop?)

10.Tiddly Winks(for those that know)  

11. 52 Card pick-up(surely all have had this one done to them?)

12.Bowling(no offense smoketheblowfish)

But back to curling versus baseball.  Curling is an event(not a sport) where your 305 pound drunk uncle along with your 80 year    old grandpa and twin cousins, Earl and Earl, take the game(not a sport) of shuffleboard to the ice.  Although as a 50 somethinger, this is an event that even I could qualify for.(Still not a sport).  On the women's side, your Aunt Minnie and her "quilting circle" could take up curling and qualify for the Olympics.  But as an aside, check out the Women's Curling, Ana Arce Team Sponsorship Calendar 2006!

Baseball requires the atheletic abilities of hitting a small sphere thrown at around 90mph; being the one able to throw so-called small sphere at 90+mph; being able to leap, dive, or sacrifice your body to make a play on the small sphere; and some running ability in regards to running down fly balls, line drives or ground balls.  The game of baseball surely requires a no fear attitude in the batter's box and a deftness of hand and eye coordination.

Aunt Lena could never hit a curve ball.
