    DUCKING THE FIRST HALF

Saturday, December 22, 2007, 08:24 PM EST [Oregon]

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - When I walked out on the court after heading into both the Michigan State and Texas locker rooms, I saw the score and didn't flinch. Oregon was up a dozen points midway through the first half.

Then I sat down and did a double-take. It was actually Oakland that was ahead.

This isn't an Oakland from the Bay Area, either. This is Oakland University, a school that's located about 20 minutes from The Palace.

This is a team with one of the worst skin-tight uniforms in all of college hoops, but they are beating up on Ernie Kent's Oregon Ducks right now.

Derrick Nelson, who won a prep school title a few years ago with Bridgton Academy, was leading the Grizzlies with 11 points and 5 boards at the break.

Diminutive point guard Tajuan Porter went scoreless and missed all five of his shots prior to the break. He also went without a single assist.
